  1. He's known somewhat in baseball circles now, but I think this summer for sure is when he makes himself known on a national stage.
  2. He had a really nice one earlier, too, where he got a force out at 2nd by snagging a ball heading into LF and then firing to 2B as he was running away from it. I tuned in late, didn't see the whole game. He does have some work to do in the field with his decision making, but he's already got the groundwork there to be astoundingly good defensively.
  3. NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR FANTASY TEAM!!!!!!!11111!11!1!1 (I don't really mind... I have castro in one of my leagues.)
  4. I know this is late, but Castro is a beast. 3 hits today, at least 2 nice plays in the field (i'm specifically referencing the ones to end the Astros 7th inning).... that kid is gonna be special.
  5. In fairness to Pena, there are little league fields that Fuld's HR wouldn't have got out of. Carlos Zambrano HRs: 1 Carlos Pena HRs: 0
  6. a no doubter. Score! Was it a no doubter? I didn't catch the first six innings of the game. Yup. It was gone as soon as he hit it.
  7. Until the next stiff breeze, which would land him on the DL again. I think Guzman is to the point where he can no longer be depended on as an option.
  8. I guess I'm going to be the first to say it: Brett Myers beats his wife.
  9. That's nuts. Just shows you how deep they are and what money can buy you, i guess.
  10. I'll say. Yikes.
  11. I was at the game. It sucked. I liked that we scored 4 off of Gallardo and were actually making him work, but scoring 1 run off of the crap that came after him was not cool. Nor was the Ramirez out at the plate or the 2 caught stealings, especially the 1 in the 9th. Although kudos to Ryan Dempster for getting a fan for life. A dad was there with his son at his first Cubs game and Demp came over and made sure the kid got an autograph before the game. There were a TON of drunken idiots in my section-- both Cubs and Brewers fans alike. I guess that's to be expected with the two most alcohol-loving fanbases in baseball. Some Brewers fan shoved me pretty hard outside the game (I was wearing my Santo shirt) and I damn near went after him. Although I'm glad I didn't, because I probably would have gotten arrested. And traffic getting out of the game was the worst I've ever seen getting out of a Cubs/Brewers game, and I've been to at least a dozen. Also, any word on Fukudome after leaving the game after that running catch?
  12. yes, look at this unbridled enthusiasm yeah, you're right - I'm just being unrealistically negative... Coleman is favored to beat Gallardo. How DARE you not think that the Cubs are the favorites with our AAA callup against an all-star pitcher. For shame, sir. For shame!
  13. Doubleheaders are far too uncommon in today's game. The only thing better than one game is two.
  14. Win, then finish them off for a sweep tomorrow. I'm debating making a "Wrigley North" sign to take with me tomorrow.
  15. Huh. News here, too. I had no idea.
  16. What a dumbass.
  17. Glad to see Soto batting higher up in the order.
  18. Manny being Manny?
  19. The Red Sox will bounce back. This is no different than a 5-game losing streak in July.
  20. He'll be back on Friday. The talk during the broadcast today made it sound like that between wanting him back 100%, having the off-day tomorrow and Colvin's decent performance on Tuesday they opted to give him an extra day off. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
  21. haha, worked for Wells and Marmol.
  22. So how much longer is Pena going to be out now? Wasn't he supposed to start today?
  23. This. Would have been nice if they could have won on Sunday. Oh well. Hoping for a winning record on the upcoming road trip. At least win on Sunday when I'm in attendance.
  24. That drives me absolutely bonkers. I'm not making any sort of scientific claims here, but it seems like the Cubs do it far more often than it should happen. Then don't make the claim. I don't know if stats are even kept on that sort of thing, but I'd like to see where all MLB teams rank in terms of giving up runs in the next AB after scoring them.
