  1. Hrm... if only there were some sort of feature one could employ to ignore those awful, awful meatballs.
  2. Why would you think that? Um, perhaps because that's what they've always been for? Ski was by far not the only one complaining about the Cubs today. There is a difference between complaining and "Only the Cubs" BS. Game threads are to talk about the goings on of the game. Sometimes these games can get very frustrating, thus venting is going to happen. I remember a few years back when this same discussion happened, and the more "level headed" posters weant off to start their own private game chats on AIM or Yahoo chat or whatever. Of course, they all returned here in the long run. People are going to vent. Sometimes the only the Cobs and woe is us talk can get as frustrating as the game itself. Then again, sometimes those who dont like the venting and refuse to ignore it and thus attack every venting session can be equally frustrating. I am intrigued by your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

  4. I am loving Castro at the plate, though. That kid is gonna be a force to be reckoned with. And to think he's only going to get better from here! I do agree that he has some work to do on his decision-making in the field, however.
  5. Why would you think that? Um, perhaps because that's what they've always been for? Ski was by far not the only one complaining about the Cubs today. No, not even a little bit. Game threads are for discussing the game, not saying things you know aren't true/are exaggerated just because you're annoyed. But saying things you know aren't true/are exaggerated because you're happy and excited is ok then. Got it. Double standard in effect.

  7. Wait, I thought I was the only one who went "only the Cubs" Hrmmm.... isn't this an interesting development?
  8. Why would you say something like that? Honestly. Um.... maybe because they're the Cubs? Stupid BS loss today. Grrr. I have forgotten what it feels like to be over. 500. And the Dbacks always give us fits. I hope Wells and Cashner step up and have good starts.
  9. Of course. Because why wouldn't he do that there?
  10. Ditto to whoever said they were excited for Castro's season. I really think he's going to break out this year and show that he's something special.
  11. I never said the word "ballgame" though. So there. Yes, I thought it was over, but I never said the word "ballgame." But still, I was wrong. Admit it, you have a boner from that now, don't you? It's ok. That kind of thing isn't as frowned upon now as it once was. I don't judge you. And I love how you don't deny anything I said, either. Your silence is deafening.
  12. The schadenfreude is strong in here. Holy crap, did Theriot kill your dog? I mean, I'm glad he's not at SS anymore either, but seriously? Even when he was here I never understood the extreme hatred that was thrown his way. Yeah, all he hit were singles and he wasn't a very good fielder, but I don't think it warranted this level of venom.
  13. The season didn't officially start until erik prematurely (pause) called BALLGAME Yup, I was wrong, but once again I was saying what a lot of others were thinking. I'm man enough to admit I was wrong, and am I ever glad I was. Nothing like a come-from-behind win. The first time after a long winter just starts making you feel all warm again. And I'm glad that I was able to give imb the highlight of his life by pointing out that I was wrong on the internet. Now when he goes to bed with his footy jammies and teddy bear tonight, he won't have those scary dreams about the monsters again. I will say though that if they're as impatient at the plate all year as they were today against Maholm, it's going to be a very long year. That can't continue.
  14. I wish. I'll gladly take another 97-win season. Fun fact: The Cubs lost their first two games of the season in 2008. Of course, the Cubs also lost their first two games in 2010 but that season obviuosly didn't go very well. We started 1998 8-2, I think.
  15. Don't the Cubs employ a nutritionist, or at least have someone on staff in charge of things like that?
