  1. I know it isn't. Making money is the point of the playoffs. I'm just saying I don't like seeing wild-card teams get to play for a title every other year just because Bud is desperate to make sure the Yankees and Red Sox are always both in the playoffs. I hate that wild card teams get to play for a title, that's why I don't like this new format that requires them to win an additional series in order to get there? The argument could be made though that if the other teams were so good, they'd beat the wild-card team I guess I just never understood this "Wild Card teams in the World Series are bad" notion. Wild card teams have won championships in the NFL, NBA, and NHL. Why is it so terrible when it happens in baseball?
  2. That was Loney. Yeah, but we should take it out on Kemp. Just because.
  3. Throw at Matt Kemp's head. Just for that Grand Slam in 2008.
  4. 8 k's already for Garza. Woody should be nervous. I'm kidding.
  5. Come on, Pena. Now would be a good time for that first Cubs HR.
  6. Wow, we caught a break there. Let's make something of it, now. Come on, Darwin.
  7. Nice piece of hitting being down 0-2 by Geo.
  8. My Pavlovian response to seeing this name in a game thread was instant blind rage. Especially seeing that he's also a C.
  9. Love that this is still brought up endlessly without any proof. I was just going on if that was the assumption. I don't know one way or the other.
  10. I wonder if that means Byrd will be dropped in the order or if Colvin/Johnson will be getting the start over him? Also I just realized that Koyie Hill will be making a appearance today   Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll do something not entirely useless like he did the other day when he laid down that bunt. And if this happens, I'll buy a lottery ticket.
  11. For Castro I think I'd make that exception.
  12. Keep him at leadoff. He's our best hitter and should get as many AB's as possible. Let him bat third. At most we're looking at one extra at bat for him, and the chances of that being meaningful are slim. Plus, it would mean no Byrd in the three-hole! I won't hate him in the 3 spot. I just figure why mess with a good thing? Rammy should be 3rd, Soriano 4th (to hell with what he's "comfortable" with... with that paycheck he shouldn't complain), Pena 5th, Soto 6th, and Byrd 7th. Although, as I said, I woudln't hate him in the 3-hole.
  13. Keep him at leadoff. He's our best hitter and should get as many AB's as possible.
  14. I heard he would have had 2 hr's easy if the wind wouldn't have been blowing in. Hopefully he's starting to heat up. We need his power.
  15. I hate Byrd hitting 3rd. I'd rather see everyone in this lineup except for Barney there. Yes, even Colvin has been more patient that Byrd this year, and has more power. Pena's been much more patient, and I heard a rumor that he had power but who knows where that has been. With the way Soriano's been hitting, he should be in the 3 spot until he cools off.
  16. Yay doubleheaders! Boo having to work during said doubleheaders!
  17. Bruce Miles is not at all optimistic about this game getting in on his Twitter feed.
  18. The genius stole $60 in shirts from a downtown Cincy department store. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6384863
