  1. Corey has 11 HRs. Sorry, I must have mistaken one of his popouts to second as a HR  It would be a homer in a silo. ;)
  2. I'm with you, I was calling for the Cubs to be sellers and see what the young kids can offer a month and a half ago. It's not being overly pessimistic as I see it, it's being realistic. This is not a World Series competitive ballclub. Why not set the team up so they CAN be a legitimate World Series contender next year? Shoot, we've waited four generations, I think we can wait one more year. What I DON'T want to see happen are desperation buyer moves by Hendry that only marginally improve the team in a weak attempt at limping into a wild card spot. I'd take 500 this year and 100 wins next year over 85-88 wins this year and next, all day long. Move any or all of Patterson, Remlinger, Rusch, Mitre, Wellemeyer, Dubois, Perez, Walker, Hairston; all should have some value to contenders. See what Cedeno can do if allowed to play full-time. Get Fontenot up here and see if he can be the 2006 2B. And down on the farm, I don't see why Murton isn't at Iowa, we need to know if he can be a piece to the 2006 puzzle, let's get him moving forward in the organization. And of course it goes without saying, fire Baker. I agree. Cedeno was called up... let him play every day. Neifi is back to his old crappy "one of the worst hitters in the last 50 years" self. Corey needs something. He either needs to be moved or sent down, because this slump is just going to continue. We need to set it up for next year, move some players for some young talent (although I disagree with your calling to trade for Walker). Hairston should start in center, Doobie in left. Williams should finish the season as the 5th starter. He's our best option right now. Keep Rusch in the pen as the long man/spot starter, and move Mitre. Start seeing who has what, and start moving some of our talent. I think Mitre could be used in a package deal, Remmy could be dealt (there's always someone looking for a lefty reliever) and who knows what. But I'm 100% in favor of Walker being in a Cubs uniform next year. Keep him. And Hairston has proven he can lead off. Cedeno has proven he can handle short. We need a manager who realizes that. And fire Dusty. Of course.
  3. I never really expected much more than .500 from this team anyway, especially after the offense was ignored this offseason.
  4. Nomar could be sounding genuine because he knows if he remains a fan favorite in Chicago, he can get the most money from the Cubs this offseason despite yet another disapointing year. I don't think it's an act.
  5. I didn't see the game today, so I'm not really qualified to rip on Corey's 0-4 day. However, if what you say is true, and he's fouling off a lot more pitches and trying to hit a mistake pitch instead of popping up the first or 2nd pitch, then I commend him.
  6. Dusty liked the way Cedeno kept his seat warm when he went to make a pitching change.
  7. Nice to see that Cedeno was called up for the sole purpose of getting splinters in his butt.
  8. Dammit, I work 3-12 tonight, so I'm going to miss the entire damn game. Grrrrrrrrrr.
  9. Good, because "paid suspension" is such a joke, no matter what the profession. Why don't they just say "We sent the guy on a paid vacation for a while?"
  10. Ok, so every time I go into the "view your posts" option, and click on the thread that I want to go to, I get this message.... Fatal error: Call to undefined function: phpbb_rtrim() in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/northsidebaseball.com/httpdocs/Forum/viewtopic.php on line 512 Now, if the thread has more than one page to it, if I click on the page number, I'm fine. But if I click on the link to the thread itself, I get that error. It's not a huge deal, I just don't know if I'm the only one getting it or not. I just thought I'd bring it to Tim's attention and let him handle it how he sees fit.
  11. I think unprovoked attacks on people not involved in the game should be dealt with harshly. I guess we should be thankful the guy didn't throw a cup of beer at Rogers as he was laying down on the grass with a towel over his head.
  12. I hope we resign Nomar next year, with Cedeno being the backup SS/3B, so we're not hurting a lot of Nomar would get hurt again. We'll get him cheap.
  13. Even though we all say that brenly is an idiot, and that he wasn't a good manager, watching Johnnie B. at work must absolutely drive him nuts. i can't speak for brenly, but it sure does drive me nuts. If you gave me the option of Brenly or Baker, I'd take Brenly yesterday.
  14. HOLLA!!!! 3-2 Cubs! Now we need 1 more run.
  15. Kind of a disguised shot at Dusty there. You know it's bad when the homer announcers are pointing out how much you suck.
  16. MVLEE!!! Gotta love "Wild Bill" in the booth. Hopefully he stays and we tie it up!!
  17. I'd immediately turn on the Weather Channel and check the temperature of Hell to see if it was freezing over.
  18. Maybe we could trade for Kenny Rogers in the hope Jay Mariotti would say somthing snide about him. Sit back and watch the sparks fly!! Seriously, though, I don't see any need for Rogers. I don't think we match up well with Texas as a trading partner right now. They have some very good offense, and we have the pitching they would want, but the players they have to fill the positions where we need help are either untouchable or would be far too expensive for our tastes.
  19. You expected anything else from Dusty?

  21. The Cubs: Making pitchers and washed-up catchers look like Ted Friggin' Williams on a daily basis.
  22. Beer wars around Wrigley. The Budwieser house in left, and the Miller sign in right.
  23. What about Latin America? I think if you did North America vs. Asia it wouldn't work either. Too different being from the US and being from the DR. I love the concept of a baseball World Cup, let's hope it works out Man, the semifinals are the day I get married. I'm sure there will also be some NCAA tourney games that day as well. Hope the fiancee lets me sneak away to watch tv!!
