  1. Haha, Len ripping on his Cubs.com experience last night.
  2. Swinging at garbage out of the zone is called "hitting", dude. That's why we have Neifi on the team... he doesn't clog the bases with walks.
  3. Um, I could not disagree more with this statement.
  4. This is what I was talking about. Perez has to be doing something right for all these baseball people to make these statements They haven't watched him all year. They look at his april numbers and the grand slam he hit against the Cardinals and say"This is a good player", while we, who have seen him all year, know the truth.
  5. which is why I'll never forgive Alex Gonzales. If I ever meet that man face to face....... And the Cubs, for the 1,426,885th time this season, fail to score with the bases jammed and less than 2 out.
  6. OT, but WGN is getting into the reality TV game?
  7. They never let it rest. That's one of the reasons I hate ESPN. Once the masses of Cub Fans let it go, so will ESPN & Fox. Gary Miller was out there and said the guy sitting in the "Bartman Seat" didn't even know it. I think Cubs fans are over it, and want people to shut up about it. I was over it the minute Alex Gonzalez dropped the DP ball. THAT I won't get over.
  8. Really. Blow this mofo up. Cedeno at 3rd, Murton in left, Hill starting, call up JVB...
  9. Of course, because they love to stick the knife in and twist. Double for Rusch.
  10. Well, like I've said before... If you're gonna suck, you may as well go all out.
  11. This by far the most disheartning statement I have read in sometime. I had really hoped they weren't even on the same book. I'm pretty sure Dusty's is a My Little Pony coloring book so hopefully JH is just being supportive publically. If they're on the same page, then burn the book.
  12. If you want to convince Giles to come to Chicago, all you have to do is show him his splits while in Chicago at Wrigley... AB R H HR RBI AVG OBP SLG OPS 41 18 19 6 19 .463 .593 1.073 1.666 What are his road splits agains the Cubs in his career, though?
  13. Didn't Hoops say a week or so back that Hendry is actively trying to trade Patterson, or will be trying to in the offseason?
  14. I posted a comment (which hasn't been approved yet) inviting hm to come over here. I hope he does. I didn't mention Bruce Miles or the DJaxx announcer, though. Maybe someone else can.
  15. Without Aram in the lineup we're cooked. Can Ronny play 3rd, or will he just continue to rot on the bench? Or will Neifi move to 3rd and Ronny at short? I wouldn't mind him having a 2-week, no pressure tryout.
  16. A few things.... If Wood can get it together in 2006 and stay healthy, I don't think we should let him go. I think he knows this upcoming year is make or break for him. I wouldn't be upset with letting Nomar go, but ONLY if we got Furcal for a reasonable price. And the only way Murton and Pie would play every day is if Dusty was gone. I don't see that happening. Also, doesn't Pie need to learn better strike-zone judgement before he comes up, lest he risk being a glorified Corey Patterson? Would love to have Zito and Wags here. I'm only leery about giving a 3-year contract to Giles because of his age. I also really like your bench, and the fact that you're getting rid of all 3 of Dusty's "toys".
  17. Tim, did you move? Didn't you used to live in California?
  18. Unfortunately, the only way I can get pictures is to steal them at the moment, which I'm not willing to do. So, not at the moment, unfortunately. You could post pictures that members have taken and have given you permission to use. That way everyone wins.
  19. I kinda doubt it, but if it IS him, I'm puzzled as to why he's at that troll-ridden board instead of NSBB which he has mentioned on the air. But, direct him over here. I'm sure the intelligent ones will weed him out.
  20. I use the first 4 quite often. Especially "meh".
  21. I have a huge problem with our minor league managers, coaches and instructors. Over the past few years, it appears to me the guys brought up just aren't ready to play. You don't develop guys in the majors, they should be ready to contribute when they arrive. For example, is there any reason why Dubois was still getting poor jumps and misreading fly balls? I mean it's not like he came up with only two years of pro ball under his belt. Is there a reason why Choi's and Patterson's swings weren't corrected or improved by the time they came to Chicago? Patterson was rushed to the majors. Can't blame him on the coaches. Choi had little left to prove at the AAA level. Sing looks like a very patient hitter. It seems like Harvey has a decent w/k ratio. There's also Eric Patterson who seems to understand the importance of getting on base. While they didn't develop Murton Hendry insisted on getting him in the Nomar deal. Maybe Hendry is coming around on the OBP issue. Now if only we had a manager who woudl come around on the OBP issue....
  22. What exactly did he do wrong? I guess you can't drink milk as a batboy. Seriously.... the Marlins need to lighten up. The kid probably loves his job as batboy, he gets to hang out with major leaugers. And let's face it... we all know guys can do stupid stuff. This was kinda dumb, but not destructive or harmful. He was just being one of the guys.
  23. Who backs up first base in this situation? Well who do you consider our backup firstbaseman now? Macias? You cant surely be advocating keeping Macias. Walker will do just fine starting a couple of games and if Lee were to go down I'd rather bring up Sing as he surely could do as well as a 25th man. I have no idea who our backup is this year, it's one of several things I'd like to see remedied. With a backup that at least has played significant time there in the past, Baker might be more likely to give Lee the rest he needs. Who says he needs it? He sure doesnt. His stats say he doesnt. I say leave him be. Everyone tires out. Look at his September numbers last year. He was totally gassed. I think a few days off here and there could have preserved his bat for the stretch run.
  24. Because they're the Cubs. There is a reason that this team hasn't even lucked into 1 World Series win in the last 97 years. It's because when there is a common sense decision to be made, the Cubs do just the opposite.
