    I am seriously considering not watching a game in 2006 until Dusty is fired. This is horsecrap.

    The longer you leave Dusty at the helm, the more damage he'll do long-term. I have never wished bodily injury to any Cub, but I'm coming awfully close to doing so with Dusty. I know I shouldnt.....

    Hendry has to step up and take Dusty's guys away. I totally agree with the post that if Neifi and Cedeno are the SS's on this team, Neifi will most definately be the starter. I guess if we make improvements other places i'd be ok with Cedeno starting at short, but Neifi has to be let go no matter what.

    I guess, assuming Dusty is gone, that this team go for the "youth movement" in 2006. Murton in left, Cedeno at short, some of the kids (Pie?) up from the minors. What the hell.

    Dempster gets results, and that's all I care about. Give Wood one last shot in the rotation. If he's out for an extended period of time again, THEN move him to closer. But I think we're going to need him in the rotation at least to start the year.

    How much could we get them to eat, though? If we got them to eat, say, 7 million per year or so of the approx $20 million per year or so he's due, what would we have to give up? And if we can't get him and get Boston to eat anything, then get Burnett and Giles like he said. Well, I know he didn't say we should get them, but I do. So there.

    I'd love to see Nomar here next year with a low base and incentives. He'll be even cheaper next year. Cedeno can back up and fill in if he gets injured. If he gets injured again next year, don't re-sign him. Something tells me we'll have to pay out the nose for Furcal.

    Exactly. And while I don't necessarily disagree that Neifi would be an ok 25th man, he won't be as long as Dusty Baker is managing this team. He's one of Dusty's "toys" and will continue to be misused as long as Dusty is making the lineups. We have to get rid of him.

    I really don't see any more cost-effective options for 2B next year than Walker. I'll pass on Soriano, thanks. Walker gives us average (at worst) production for the position, and with the money we save on him we can give to someone else. I'm just fine with Todd Walker as the starting 2Bman in 2006.

    Why do you think Perez will be the starting shortstop next year? Read the very first post in this thread. It said the Cubs are likely to not re-sign Nomar, and they'll probably bring back Neifi.

    If the Cubs choose Neifi over Nomar I'm seriously going to consider being done with this team.
