  1. Same thing as last year. Nothing has changed. It was a circus last year and still is today. Dusty Baker could have the 1927 Yankees team and find a way to screw it up.
  2. I'm pretty sure there is an existing thread on this somewhere. A pretty interesting read, too.
  3. roast may be the only other person to agree with you here. I'd love to see him back too. However, he's not the player he once was, and management would never have it. But I'd love to see a Sammy Sosa "farewell" tour.
  4. the players will just have to win in spite of dusty. But Dusty makes that very, very hard sometimes. Look at his misuse of Remlinger, his obsession with Neifi, his refusal to play a rookie even if he's better than the established vet..... I'm not sure how much a manager can help a team win, but a bad one can damn sure help a team lose. Hendry can redeem himself somewhat in my eyes if he would get rid of Neifi and Macias in the offseason.
  5. I WENT TO YOUR BLOG, AND I DIDNT LEARN ANYTHING. WHAT A RIPOFF. It's not my fault that it was above your intelligence level.
  6. I'm seriously thinking of not watching a single Cubs game next year, even if they re-sign Nomar and he wins the MVP, Murton and Cedeno split the ROY, Z pitches 3 perfect games, and they trade for Manny. As long as Dusty is the manager, they're not worth emotional stress. If I do cave, I'll watch the games, but I won't get really passionate about it because I'll know the end result.
  7. Let the Sammy bashing begin. Personally, I wish him well in Japan. He gave me some of the best Cubs memories I ever had, and I am still thankful to him for that.
  8. Why is this even a poll? I gue$$ thi$ i$ endearing to people? Personally, I find it extremely annoying.
  9. But then he went to Japan, didn't he? Maybe they thought he was done in the majors. Anyway, he was out for many years, and they probably thought he was done, so they put in that "final game" stat. I wouldn't say it was so much a "lie" as it was just being wrong.
  10. And people wonder why the Cubs have been the laughingstock of baseball for most of the last century. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother..... From the article. Shouldn't being progressively worse the last 2 years be enough? Shouldn't being a complete and utter imbecile and quite possibly the worst manager in baseball be enough to get his ass fired? And Hendry FULLY SUPPORTS HIM!! This will just be one of those periods where we talk about whistfully 20 years from now.... "Yeah, we had some really great players. Prior, Zambrano, Lee, Ramirez, Walker, and all in thier prime. But we had an idiot for a manager, and the best chance of getting to the WS in my lifetime went out the window." MacPhail should get the boot, too, for even thinking about extending Baker.
  11. Hey, I'm pretty confident I could go 0-12 and stink up the place. I'll do it for $10,000 per total base!
  12. I would love to see Burnett here. The weakest spot in the rotation would be Maddux, and that would only be his final year. We could replace him with one of the studs in our farm system after that. Meh on Furcal. Maybe Cedeno or Walker could lead off next year.
  13. I agree that I'd love to see Nomar and Walker back, with Cedeno as a "super sub" spelling Nomar, Walker, and even Aramis for a day or two here and there. If Neifi comes back, with Dusty's penchant for overusing him, I will be very angry. If he's on this team Cedeno will amass a pretty impressive collection of butt splinters. Or, I could live with losing one of Walker or Nomar. I'm torn on which one as I really like both. As long as Cedeno starts at the empty position and Neifi is off the team I'd be ok with it. Start Murton in left, too.
  14. They don't update that until after the regular season.
  15. I don't disagree that Neifi could have some value (if used properly) as the 25th man on the roster. However, as he is one of Dusty's "toys", you know he won't be used properly. He will be used in situations in which he shouldn't be, taking playing time away from more worthy players. With any other manager, I wouldn't necessarily mind him as a spot starter and 2b/ss/3b backup, but he'd be a "super sub" under Dusty. He's gotta go. For the good of the team, he's gotta go.
  16. Big Z and Urlacher on the same defense! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o He could take tackling lessons from Kyle Farnsworth
  17. I've been clicking every day, Tim. I plan to be a premium member before the playoffs are over.... hopefully.
  18. Oh the Old Style endorsements they could get :P Just bring Farns and Hundley back too.
  19. $ound$ liek u got dolla billz yo Can you stop that thing using $ for an s? It's really getting irritating.
  20. CBS-2 Chicago had some video of Carlos kicking a ball around and then making a nice header during the game. Not only did he look great in a soccer uniform, he clearly has skills. Well, God forbid he ever blows out his arm.....
  21. Yeah, too bad he won't be in the lineup. Or not.
  22. I like Brandon Sing alot, but I think you gotta beware of Jason Dubois syndrome with him. I think he will have trouble adjusting to ML pitching. I think his plate discipline will suffer because there won't be the situations where he's pitched around like he is now in the minors. IF the Cubs are gonna give Brandon Sing the LF job in 2006, it's gonna be a long season for him and the Cubs. So what would you do, Raw? Start him in AAA and bring him up in June or so if he hits?
  23. Rocket, have you learned nothing from last year? Every time the announcers criticize the players, the announcers are always wrong and hissy fits should ensue.
  24. If a deadline deal got done I think it would be reported in the next hour, maybe less. If we make it to midnight and don't hear anything, I think we're in the clear.
  25. I sincerely hope that you're kidding. Are you like that to everyone in service to you? When you go into the grocery store are you rude to the cashier because "he/she is a moron, and it's thier job to put up with a jerk like me. The Customer is Always right.... blah blah blah bow down and kiss my butt!" A lot of those kids are in high school or college. If you're not kidding, I wish 1 of 2 things for you... 1) A visit from Modzilla. And soon. 2) You one day are in such desperate need of a job that you are forced to work at a Subway/Wal-Mart/McDonalds, and that every customer you have views you the way you view the people who work at Subway. BTW, I have a college education and I work at Wal-Mart. Some of us need money for things like rent and food. Is it my ideal job? No, but there was nothing else available and I need work. I hate having to serve people like you..... the people who think I'm an idiot just because I'm in service to them. Just remember, never tick off anyone who handles your food or your money. And please, enlighten me. What is this "reason" they're working at Subway? Maybe it's because they enjoy serving jerks who think that they're better? Maybe because they like hearing screaming bratty children all day. I know, it's because they love getting yelled at and cleaning up messes all day for very little pay. Surely it must be that, and not because they're working themselves through college, or saving, or taking up a 2nd job because times are tough, or even trying to support a family. It can't be any of THOSE reasons. Mods, forgive me. He hit a nerve.
