  1. The 84 playoffs would surely have killed him if he hadn't died when he did.
  2. For some reason I've never been a fan of contraction. I'd much rather see relocation. And it would make far more sense to contract the D-Rays, IMO. Would Orlando be a viable market with as much tourism as it recieves? One of the Florida teams could move there. Get yourself a marquee player or two, have a family-friendly stadium and reasonable ticket prices, and you'd think a team could clean up.
  3. The refrain couldn't be more true... "Do they still play the blues in Chicago, when baseball season rolls around? When the snow melts away, do the Cubbies still play in their ivy-covered burial ground? When I was a boy they were my pride and joy, but now they only bring fatiuge. To the home of the brave, the land of the free, and the doormats of the National League."
  4. Didn't we lose Greenberg in the Rule 5 draft?
  5. Give the Brewers this year and next. After that, they'll be legit WC contenders, maybe even Division contenders.
  6. I plan on watching as much as I possibly can. Hell, they're only every few years. Why not?
  7. That 500 grand would buy us what? 3, 4 games maybe?
  8. THAT COST US THE G-DAMNED PENNANT THE BUM!!!! GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! (takes some deep breaths) I'm ok. Really.
  9. And you're all going down come September. 1st you have to finish somewhere higher than 11th before you become a threat to win it all. :P I had a down year. If you check my Yahoo sports profile you'll see I won the other league I was in last year. 8)
  10. I KNEW it!! Just the other day I was talking to my dad about one time seeing Les Lancaster in the OF, and he thought I was nuts.
  11. And you're all going down come September.
  12. I have one spot left. First to PM me will get the invite later today.

If you're gonna suck, you might as well go all-out.

Ouch. Haha, just take the opposite of whoever IMB picks.
  15. Unfortuantely we're still a ways away from any meaningful games yet.
  16. The game will be on ESPN. Carlos Zambrano will eat your soul.
  17. Could you live with Pierre if Pie is traded for a good RF bat? How good? Let's say on the level of Abreu/Dunn Probably. I'm thinking Pierre is going to have a modestly good year. But with the momentum in baseball swinging toward the overvaluation of this type of player (see all the BS about how great Podsednik was this year), he could very well be very overpaid by next season, and Jim could easily be the GM who mistakenly signs him to that contract. Do you think public pressure from the fans, who have heard so much about Pie these last few years, would allow Hendry to re-sign Pierre and either trade away Pie or hold him down?
  18. :D Thanks. I need sleep now. Well done, sir. Also, guess who laid down what he thought were 10 wasted dollars on Hines Ward for MVP and Hines Ward to score the last TD of the game. What were the odds? 12-1 on the MVP, 8-1 on the TD Not bad.
  19. It will be live. I just have it set on autodraft for now because I didn't want to set a live draft time until the league was filled. That was a typo a few posts up. My bad. 12 teams are in. If anyone else wants a spot, IM me ASAP and I'll PM you with the information.
  20. MLB is forbidding the Marlins from talking to Las Vegas. http://www.benmaller.com/archives/2006/february/05-mlb_wont_let_marlins_talk_with_vegas.html
  21. Oh. I thought you were complimenting my grasp of the concept, not the correct usage of it.
  22. Um, how could someone NOT get that right? 4 spots left, btw, assuming everyone who IM'ed me joins. It's filling up quick! 16 teams, LIVE DRAFT, 6x6 scoring
  23. There are still 9 openings left, so if you want in, let me know. There are currenly 4 NSBB'ers in the league (myself included), so you'll be able to play with some people you know. PM me for an invite. Anyone who is serious about playing will recieve an invite if they desire.
  24. You can still join my league if you like.
  25. Wasn't that the game where he gave up a grand slam to maybe J.D. Drew? If I remember correctly, the Cubs were down big and came back and won that game. No. JD Drew was a Brave in 2004. That was the game in which Pujols hit 3 home runs. The Cubs were up 8-2 in the 6th. Baker pulled Rusch after Rolen and Edmonds hit singles. I turned to the guy next to me and said, "If he was going to pull Rusch, why didn't he do it before the inning started? And why is he pulling him after he made it through Pujols/Rolen/Edmonds?" And the Cards came back and won the game. And Latroy melted down at the end and went after the umpire. July of 2004. I was there. We gave Matt Morris a standing ovation when he got yanked in I wanna say the 2nd inning after giving up those 8 runs. Thought we were in for a great day. Then the rest of the game happened. That was the second most pissed I'd ever been at the Cubs. The first being Game 6.
