    I can't see them taking such a historic franchise as the Athletics. Maybe Twins, Marlins, Devil Rays, Royals. The Twins are a historic franchise, too. They were an original American League franchise when they were the Washington Senators. Two teams I can see getting cut. Four? No way.

    He's a hitter that more kids should try to emulate. You can be a star without hitting 30 home runs a year. Just make solid contact.

    Has anyone ever had one of those "coinicdence" moments?? I had one back in '89. For whatever reason in early October I was talking to someone at school and for whatever reason I shouted "I hate San Fransisco!!" (I was in 2nd Grade and a weird kid). The next day the earthquake happened. Saturday, for whatever reason, I was thinking about Kirby Puckett. I even sang "Kirbyyyyyyyyy.... Kirby Puckett" (to the tune of "Davy Crockett). The next day he had his stroke, and today he died. That is kinda scary.

    My team isn't as good as it could have been, but for having the 18th pick, I think it turned out pretty good. I'm confident with that all the risks I took, at least one should pan out.

    Haha, me too. More Gwynn than Puckett, though. I was a bigger guy, stockier (as opposed to the tub I am now) and hit mainly singles and doubles. I had 1 homer my entire little league career. Should have been two, but oh well.

    Just two reasons and not exclusive. I didn't know the Pope but I mourned and reflected for him. Fair enough.

    Are those reasons together (like he did this AND this, so I shouldn't mourn him) or are they exclusive?

    So you're a tromboner? Seriously, congrats. I played the trumpet very badly for 3 years in Middle School.

    Well, think about it. You get a cut somewhere (usually with me its the skin right on the side of my fingernails), and with all the dirt and stuff Aram is around (putting it in his glove or fielding grounders), swinging the bat, etc, it's quite easy to see how it can get infected. He probably got a small cut, thought it was nothing, and woke up one morning with it all red and swollen. It happens to me quite a bit, although never that bad.

    He played the game the way it was meant to be played. I only read the Sports Illustrated article years ago that revealed his darker side, but as a kid he was one guy I always wanted on the Cubs.

    They'll give him some oral antibiotics and he'll be fine. Worse case scenario, (and i mean if it gets really bad) they'll give him an IV drip and he'll miss a few days.

I had the 18th pick.

    Apparently he plays a pretty good corner OF. Then if he hits, he should make the team and platoon with Jones.

    Runner on 1st, less than 2 outs and he scores. Hope they do that in the regular season.
