  1. Uheara of Baltimore to the Rangers for Tommy Hunter and Chris Davis.
  2. Watch out for the Eagles this year. Geez.
  3. I have this sick feeling that the Rickets family will somehow bow out of the Pujols/Fileder bidding and try to sell us on Pena as our long-term 1Bman.
  4. I guess the Pirates inquired about Pena, but the Cubs "weren't motivated" to move him. Really? Because you think he's going to be a key part of our playoff run, Jim? Really? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/07/pirates-rumors-pena-derrek-lee-furbush.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  5. CBSsports.com is saying the Dodgers and Cardinals are "close" on a deal to send Furcal to St. Louis. http://scott-miller.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/6270335/30991383
  6. So it's ok for an official to be wrong so long as the game is exciting? If it were me, I really don't care if it's the most boring game I've ever seen. So long as the Cubs or Packers win, I'm happy, and I don't care how many replays I have to sit through for it.
  7. Geez, how much cap room do they have, or are the Skins eating a lot of Haynesworth's deal?
  8. I copied that delivery whenever I could.
  9. And his first game at Wrigley with the late HR. Good memory. Kinda like Tuffy Rhodes' 3 HR day. I yelled so loud when he hit that HR.
  10. Yeah I wasn't sure if he or Nomo was first. Nomo opened up the gates for all the others to come over.
  11. So apparently at Fukudome's goodbye press conference in the clubhouse, Marlon Byrd shouted over "Take me, too!" Your 2011 Cubs, everyone. The wheels have officially fallen off. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-report-indians-pursuing-cubs-fukudome-20110728,0,471140.story (right at the bottom of the article)
  12. Wasn't he really the first big Japanese player to be posted and signed in the States?
  13. You seriously don't think an incorrect outcome hurts the game? Sure, baseball will go on as it always has, but you don't think the players and the fans deserve the correct outcome on the field? What if it would be the Cubs screwed out of a playoff game on a hilariously bad call? Would you still feel the same way? Blown calls hurt the integrity of the game. Sure, not as much as like steroids or the Black Sox scandal or the color barrier, but it's still something that can be done away with if possible. I really will never understand the opposition to ensuring the correct outcome is called on the field.
  14. It's called hitting, not walking, dude.
  15. No, but if the Indians are getting Kouske pretty much for free we should have gotten something better. I'm not saying their top prospect or anything but something better than the return we're getting now. The Indians are paying for $4 million of Kosuke's remaining $4.5 million. If this is true I retract my earlier statement.
  16. No, but if the Indians are getting Kouske pretty much for free we should have gotten something better. I'm not saying their top prospect or anything but something better than the return we're getting now.
  17. Wish we'd have held onto Jenkins, but they probably have some extra money now that Haynesworth is gone.
  18. Bruce reporting it too, although he's saying we'll kick over some money in the deal. Hopefully that will net us some useful prospects.
  19. Carrie Muskat says it will be for "two minor leaguers," but does not state which two.
  20. Per MLBTR: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/07/indians-in-serious-talks-for-kosuke-fukudome.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  21. You're blaming Bud Selig... ...for the umpiring "system"... ...that was established well before he was even born. ... Let's ponder that one for a brief moment, shall we? While you are totally correct in that Selig can't be blamed for a system that was well in place for decades before he was born, he CAN be blamed for not pushing harder to change said system for "the betterment of the game."
  22. Jones is expendable. WR is probably our deepest position. I'd lock Jenkins up if I could, though.
