  1. I wonder who it was who sold his soul to Satan for the Cardinals to be so damn lucky all the time.
  2. Will someone please hypnotize these guys so they forget that they're the Cubs?
  3. They should be called Cobs until they start playing like a major league team.
  4. Soriano will lead off when he comes back. Lou likes him at the top of the lineup, and he likes being there. We all know that Soriano likes it there, and Lou likes him there. The question is, is it the best thing for the team. A good leadoff hitter should be a guy who takes walks and slaps singles. I know the whole cliche about the leadoff hiter may only leadoff in the first inning, but when you have a guy capable of what Soriano is, he should be at the plate with a few guys on. I agree with you, and in a perfect world he'd be there. But, I'm sure there will be no shortage of people here soon trotting out Soriano's career stats when not batting leadoff, and they're not very good. It's a total mental thing with him. If he's not at the top of the order, he sucks.

  6. Yup. That sound you hear is the bottom falling out. Seriously? It's TWO games. Two games that are continuing some very clear and worrisome trends. I'll grant you Kosuke, but who else? Ramirez is slumping, he'll be fine. Lee has lost his power, but it's not a physical thing with his wrist because he was hitting for power earlier this year. I bet he'll bounce back, nothing ridiculous, but probably 12-15 HR in the second half. Other than those three, what are the worrisome trends? I'm really concerned by these poor at bats on the road. They act like these games make no difference at all. I'm not referring to Ryan, or all of them per say, but I see so many at bats just tossed away. A-Ram is doing this a lot, D Lee some as well. It's like they can't wait to get back into the dug out...or can't wait for the game to be over. Hey perhaps they need to have the race to tighten up, to get their competitive juices flowing. All I know is that games like tonight are very hard to watch. :banghead: Like I said earlier in the thread, I believe a good explosion from Lou behind close doors is needed here. I know he was frustrated after yesterday's game, but to see you're offense consist of a homerun by your pitcher, Lou can't be happy right now. To me it looks like the Cubs are trying to stay afloat while Soriano continues to rehab. But tonight, I think Lou should have gone off on them in the clubhouse. It's gotta be a mental thing. There is no way the same group of players can be so good at home while taking walks and such, and be so bad on the road and looking like a bunch of spastic 3rd Graders. It's gotta be all in their heads. And if the pitchers have figured Kouske out, I certainly hope Gerald Perry is working with him daily to fix his swing, if in fact there are holes in it.
  7. Yup. That sound you hear is the bottom falling out. Hey Jim Rome, how many times have you been wrong on this prediction already this year? Wow. Clever.
  8. Yup. That sound you hear is the bottom falling out.
  9. 2 and 3 Not for very long if we keep playing like crap.
  10. Can we have 4 days off again? At least the Cubs didn't lose in those 4 days.
  11. Another road loss, I see. I really don't understand it. It has to be a mental thing. You're playing the same guys you'd be playing at Wrigley, but if we were there, we'd probably win. Sure, Houston is more rested and has the last AB's, but I don't think that had anything to do with the sheer incompetence at the plate yesterday (don't know about today), and Z walking everyone in sight.
  12. Not really, but keep thinking that. Losing to the last place team in the division ALWAYS sucks. Neither team "deserved" this game, but of course the team with the last at-bat will get the win. Come out tomorrow and kick the Astos butts, Cubs. You need to take control of the divison. I think the Cubs deserved it less with only 5 baserunners all game and absolutely not a single baserunner past the 5th inning. Perhaps, the Astros had more baserunners, and they only score 2 runs all night. So, while I do agree the Cubs prolly "deserve" this loss, by no means did Astros earn this win. I am pretty confident the Cubs will win the next two games. and take the series. I hope so, as it looks like the Cubs will be 3 up over the Cardinals and possibly 4 up over the Brewers (with Sabathia pitching) after tonight. Hopefully this doesn't continue. The mark of a good team is beating up on the weaker teams. The Cubs ought to beat the Astros. If they can't, that's not a good sign. Let's win the series and all will be forgotten.
  13. I come home from a long day at work and caught the bottom of the 9th on WGN. Blah.
  14. I believe I read that also. Yost has said the Brewers will go Sabathia, Sheets, Parra, Bush or McClung, Suppan after the break. If everything remains, the big showdown series in Milwaukee to end July will be: Sabathia vs. Lilly Sheets vs. Zambrano Parra vs. Dempster Bush/McClung vs. Harden Wow. How many times have Zambrano and Sheets faced off against each other? That's gonna be a hell of a series. I've got tickets for that last game. Can't wait to see Harden in person!
  15. Erik says brewers.com can kiss my white ass. Brewers still have some holes. CC will help, but their bullpen is a little shaky and the overwhelming stupidity of Ned Yost will hold them down. They're my Wild Card pick, though. However, if Gallardo comes back this year and is effective, then CC/Sheets/Gallardo is equal to Z/Harden/Dempster.
  16. Nice to see that some guys don't view a rehab stint as some sort of an insult. I can't wait to see him back in the lineup.
  17. Game 1 of the WS at Wrigley would have been electric, should the Cubs have gotten that far.
  18. I'm off to bed, all. Should have been in bed an hour ago.
  19. What does Orioles Hangout have to say about it?
  20. Can we get some of the Legends activated for this game? Let's get Bob Gibson warming up.
  21. Dan Uggla sucks. I mean really, really sucks. That being said he'll be friggin Rogers Hornsby incarnate when we play the Marlins.
  22. When he's not walking the entire state of Illinois, he's pretty good. Hahahahahaha Uggla
