This was an encouraging thought in May. By late July, it's just worrisome. Not if you believe your team is the best team in the division. Teams like the Cards don't last long. Eventually they will sink, the Cubs just need to stay above the Cards. This is a franchise that won the World Series a mere two years ago with 83 regular season wins. They weren't very good then, either. And we kept saying all year that they were terrible and wouldn't do anything and they'd fall off. And they never did. The Cardinals are the exception to the rule. The team bus could crash, forcing every player to the DL, and they could call up their AAA team and a few local drunks, as well as the batboy and clubhouse attendant, and would probably still keep winning.
