  1. Prior. No question.
  2. Way over. Offseason or Spring Training. Just a feeling.

  4. I'm a Cardinal fan and I wouldn't wish Bottalico on you or anyone else. shudder...shudder...
  5. Despite what that report(many of which have proved to be less than reliable previously), Wells doesn't hit a lot of line drives, as evidenced by his 16.5 LD% this year. I don't know why you bolded that part about defense. Wells is a fine fielder, but Patterson isn't bad at all. Wells = Patterson X3 and Vernon is going to be a Cardinal so don't sweat it ;)
  6. I just shot coke out of my nose when I read that... Patterson for Wells. ....snort......Argh......just did it again.....
  7. The reports I'm hearing are that rest isn't what his shoulder needs. He needs to build up the strength of the shoulder. TLR says that his D is enough of a reason for him to stay in the everyday lineup. He also had the key hit in yesterday's game. Reggie going on the DL hurts because Mabry will get more starts in the OF instead of being able to spell Rolen. The Cards are kinda beat up right now, so the nagging injuries are going to have to be played through.
  8. Here is how the new stadium with be situated. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cneseman/cards814.jpg It will look out onto downtown St. Lou, and homeplate will draw a straight line to the Arch as I understand it. The old stadium will be imploded at the end of the Cards season (the day after they win the World Series ;) ) They are on schedule to open the park on time next season with the final construction to wrap up around the All-Star break. Busch is a great place to go, and I will be really sad to see it go.
  9. I know it took a lot for you to say that;) Sweeping the Stros was a big statement this weekend. I think the last month was a little bit of a mirage for them. They're getting into the meat of thier schedule now and should start to fade. The Nats seem to be the team that the Cubs need to start falling off. I think the Phils are going to start trading off players. The Mets don't scare me. Does anyone really think the D-backs are a playoff team? I think the WC is going to come down to the Cubs and Nats. As a possible NLCS preview, that should make the 14 games we share a lot of fun to watch. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS WEEKEND!!!
  10. I don't get that statement. Without Albert Pujols, aren't the Cardinals... the White Sox? He's clearly the smartest and best hitter on the team, and I can't imagine Eckstien, Edmonds, and Sanders being good enough and consistent enough to make them good. The just become a team relying on scrappy hitters, fast runners, and lots of homeruns for run production. Well, seeing as how the Sox have the best record in baseball... I don't know if the Sox are a smoke and mirrors team, but I'm starting to believe that they're the real deal. Like I said in another thread, I think the Sox are alot like the 2000 Mariners. The thing that is lacking is their offense. It is fine now, but in a short series agains a staff with a couple of ace type starters, they may be dead, IMO. The have many good hitters, but no great hitters. They lack the type of offensive players that can produce runs even when facing an ace on top of his game. The Cards have Pujols and when he is healthy, Walker that fit this bill - a hitter with no glaring holes. I would say Edmonds, but if you have a pitcher who is locating very well, he can be neutralized. The Sox have a lineup full of role players, but no stud (Frank is past his prime). I agree with a lot of that. I like the Sox as a team this year, but they are far from a perfect team. The second lowest team BA in the league jumps out at me. They're going to make the playoffs, but I don't see them winning, or even going to the Series. I think the Angels are "THE" team in the AL. My girlfriend is a Sox fan, so it will save my relationship if they don't and the Cards do ;)

  12. Use this to your advantage when you drafy your fantasy team next year.
  13. Maybe it's because they get to play the Cubs 16 times a year, and they have all that WGN footage to study.
  14. From Stltoday.com Today, 7:10 p.m., FSN Midwest LHP Mark Mulder (10-5, 4.34) vs. LHP Andy Pettitte (6-7, 3.09) Saturday, 3:15 p.m., KPLR (11) RHP Jason Marquis (8-6, 3.89) vs. RHP Roy Oswalt (12-7, 2.39) Sunday, 1:15 p.m., KPLR (11) RHP Chris Carpenter (13-4, 2.51) vs. RHP Roger Clemens (7-3, 1.48) I may not watch Saturday's game ;)
  15. Yeah, the last time I predicted a game like that was when Lieber and Mulder faced off and both had been pitching great. It ended up being something like a 9-7 game :) I'm looking for the matchups for this weekend. edit: it was Carpenter and Lieber. Cards won 8-4 in a slugfest...
  16. You never know. I would agree with you that Clemens has the tougher task. With the Stros this weekend and the Cubs next weekend, we're getting ready to see some awesome pitching matchups!
  17. Here's a pic of the new stadium construction. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cneseman/stadium_640.jpg
  18. FYI This "should" be a fantastic game. Carpenter vs. Clemens
  19. Jerome Williams, Corey Patterson, and Renyel Pinto? Welcome to Chicago Adam. (Although I'd try real hard to sub Mitre for Williams) I'd rather keep Mitre. Also, I always include Williams first, because the Cubs already had a deep stable of SPs before he came aboard. Trading him is like having a free arm to trade, because frankly I might have done just Aardsma for Hawkins. That trade wouldn't even begin to be enough IMO. The last report I heard was that the Indians walked away from talks when the Reds wanted C.C. That tells me that at this point they're looking for a front line starter. Much like that windbag in Tampa asking for Zambrano in a deal for Huff. The Reds don't need anymore OF , so CPat is out. That, and now is the worst time to ever trade Patterson. His value is the lowest it will ever be. The Cards are not going to give up both of the AAA pitchers. One will probably go in a deal this year, but not both, and not in the same deal. The way this is looking, I don't think that Dunn is going to be moved.
  20. But you look so much cooler if you have an iPod ;)
  21. Any of the statheads with iPods out there will be interested to know that BP is podcasting now. Just go to iTunes, Podcast, and search for baseball. Enjoy!
  22. OMG! The man flies?! Can you imagine being stuck on a plane with him? :headache: i just threw up in my mouth... :pukel: :) Glad they found him.
  23. Same. I couldn't remember if it was Tapani or Trachsel that gave up 62. Trachsel, right? Yup. That moment is burned into my head. I just wish it meant as much to me now as it did then :(
  24. That's because Vance has played 1200 times this morning. All with different spam e-mail addresses. ;)
