  1. If this statement shows up over there, attributed to you, they will skewer you, thereby proving your point. Oh, the irony of it all..... I've moved on to greener pastures. There is a new Cardinal board that actually talks Baseball! Imagine that. The Best Fans In Baseball deserve that ;)
  2. Why is it lame, though. I think that EVERY town should claim to have the best fans. It's like Chicago saying "we have the best pizza". Obviously there's nothing to document that, but I don't have a problem with them saying it....... I wouldn't argue with them! First of all, chicago DOES have the best pizza in the world. A triple blind taste test performed by me proved it...undeniably. Why is it lame? I don't know. It just is. Partly because so many St. Louisians really believe it and talk about it. Go over to cards talk for proof. They're constantly talking about TBBFIA, BBBF, TBBFIAAOUST. Now they've got billboards. Outside of NY, I can't think of another American city that toots its own horn more than StL. And that's weird, because there's really not much to crow about. For the record, though, a billboard like that would be lame in any town, not just StL. Please don't judge Cardinal fans by going to Cards Talk. Please. And Jake, You were one of the people I thought of when I said every team has the best fans in baseball.
  3. Yeah, there are billboards here that say Miller Lite is "Chicago's Beer" Putting it in print don't make it true.
  4. It's interesting. I hear more Cub fans talk about the "Best Fans in Baseball" thing more than anyone. well, exept Al Hrabosky... Most "good" Cards fans I know pay no attention to it. I've said it before, every team has the best fans. There are fans for every team that deserve that moniker.
  5. Bartman has as much a chance of doing that as Fredbird taking on D Lee. Actually Fredbird has some pretty good karate action going...
  6. :lmao: :lmao:
  7. That pretty much says it all right there. This team would be in sorry shape without him.
  8. I think you're probably right. That chenged the whole complexion of their offence, dramatically. Yeah, and it sucked if you were 12 years old and he was your favorite player. Stupid Tarp.... :D
  9. A friend of mine in Detroit said he's quickly becoming the toast of the town. He seems like a good guy from the interviews I've seen. I hope he keeps doing well.
  10. Just hit his 9th homer. At what point do I start to believe this guy is the real deal?
  11. I hate all stories about Tarps. Supid maneatingtarp... woulda won the world series I tell ya...
  12. Discuss
  13. I was at the game. I had a conversation with the guy next to me about how impressed we have been with him so far. bout time! :D I'm just glad the kid is doing a good job now that he's getting a chance.
  14. haha, he's all they've got. after backe, their rotation drops off to the local community college pitching staff, basically. Exactly. So instead of pulling him for precaution, they keep him in for two batters that may end his season. That seems pretty desperate for April.
  15. They let him keep pitching! Are they crazy?
  16. What do you mean "continues?" Did you watch the last game he pitched against the Cardinals? 0 ER. He lost his composure in that game too because of errors behind him. I wouldn't necessarily agree. Yes, he allowed one hit after he had already gotten 4 outs. But his pitch count was already very high. Who's to say he wasn't tired by that point? Either way, it was still a VERY good outing. Z pitched a good to great game on Sat. That's coming from a Cards fan. It's early, and I think of Zambrano as a warmer weather pitcher. my 2 cents...
  17. Have a great time! Take pictures if you can. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of the park.
  18. I love my baby daughter, I love cheeseburgers. clearly I am not talking about the same emotion. similarly, I hate the guy who murdered my aunt, and I hate the Cardinals. again, not talking about the same emotion. our language can be fairly imprecise, so sometimes you go with the word that's convenient. I personally don't think that we sound like Sox fans when saying "I hate the Cardinals" because Sox fans typically aren't passionate enough about baseball to say that all too often. when I start saying "Sox suck" when clearly they do not, then come talk to me about sounding like a Sox fan. I hate Rainy days and Mondays, so I know what you're saying. Oh my God. Did I just quote the Carpenters? :pukel:
  19. Will do! I'll tell my Dad about it. He's class of '72
  20. We always stay at the Cheshire Inn in Clayton. They have a free shuttle to the games, and there are always a lot of Cub and out of town Card fans that stay there. The Inn bar is a lot of fun after games. Just a suggestion.
  21. Hey Gus! I haven't said hi to you yet this season. Bummer about SIU in the NCAAs. They rolled over. It was nice to see Withita and Bradley make some noise. We have to hook up for a bear at SIU day this year.
  22. There are fans like that for every team. Cubs, Cards, Red Sox, Devil Rays... This past weekend I had 4 Cub fans tell me I was gay because I had a Cards hat on. CLASSY! I know that they were just %#$%*^s and would be that way no matter what team they root for. I know that some people will poke fun at this, but we tend to use the word "hate" too much. I don't hate the cubs. It really gets under my skin when the Cards lose to them, but I reserve my hate for other things in life. Like republicans.
  23. Yeah, I heard Bob went to the Nats. I met him in person and he was a very nice guy. I don't think he was the best pbp guy in the biz by a long shot, but he was a good guy.
