  1. They do have those coming off the books. The problem is that they would have to trade some of those in house replacements to get Halladay.
  2. Rasmus isn't going anywhere. Pujols, Wainwright, Rasmus and to a lesser extent Molina are going to be cornerstones for a while. No way any of them gets traded. I don't see anyone outside of those four on the MLB roster that the Cards would include that the Jays would be interested in. "If" the Halladay trade goes down, it will probably be something like Wallace(3b/DH), Kozma(SS), Jones(OF), Todd(SP). That's 4 pretty highly thought of prospects within the organization. Wallace being the centerpiece.
  3. No, it's Fuentes. He of the free agent snub. Greatest Fans in Baseball At least we don't throw our 65 Year veteran equipment managers out the front door. ;)
  4. That seems like a dumb move. But "Now it Matters" so we have to keep players for those just in case situations.
  5. Lilly is on the "only if we have to" list. Heard on the radio broadcast that they won't use him unless it goes into extras.
  6. We're talking about a sport that kept the Goatee trend alive (and to this day) for well over a decade. Bad facial hair and baseball go together like peanut butter and jelly.
  7. It's coming down pretty well here in Forest Park. This one may go late tonight... I hope Carp switches with Thompson. I'd love to see him go against Lilly tomorrow. Good Baseball.
  8. My mistake. That makes more sense. Unless the Brewers are convinced (and they may be) that Prince is going to walk as soon as he can, I don't see them making that deal. Even though they are pitching starved, and it would probably make them a better team.
  9. Uh. no. An established 50+ HR hitter and the top two prospects that are very highly touted in all of baseball. Replace Prince with J.J. Hardy and I think we're closer.
  10. Viva El Birdos had a pretty good view of it from the Cardinal fan perspective. http://www.vivaelbirdos.com/2009/7/8/941625/roamin-halladay
  11. That actually makes sense. Wow. That would be a sick rotation.
  12. Halladay is EXACTLY the kind of player that Jockety would have gone after. I don't believe the Cardinals will pull the trigger. They would have to send Wallace, Kozma and probably their next 2 highest prospects. I don't see them doing that. They SHOULD. But I don't see it happening. It goes against everything we've seen under the new management.
  13. I never said he was on a tear. I said "some" pop. I said he was an elite prospect that is now proving he can hit at the MLB level. Considering he's 23 yrs old, is a natural SS and will be under team control for several years, that makes him very difficult to include in any trade.
  14. He got off to a very slow start in his first 2 weeks. In the last 2 weeks he's hitting .363 with some pop. We'll see how he looks in his second trip around the league. Yeah, I think of him as a former elite prospect and a future All-Star. You don't prove anything in 2 weeks of hitting, though. I agree he's a stud prospect, but not that he's proving he can hit MLB pitching well. I agree to an extent. It's really hard to tell until the league makes an adjustment and then see how the player adjusts to that. Right now he looks the part.
  15. He got off to a very slow start in his first 2 weeks. In the last 2 weeks he's hitting .363 with some pop. We'll see how he looks in his second trip around the league. Yeah, I think of him as a former elite prospect and a future All-Star.
  16. Beckham is a natural SS, and is proving he can hit, and hit well at the MLB level. I would have a real hard time letting go of that. Prospects are just that to me. Until they prove they can perform on the MLB level they're just a name.
  17. Yeah, Animal Rescue is stupid.
  18. 31. He went yard last night. He's on another planet right now.
  19. I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I would bet that the OF the Cubs have now is the same one you'll see for the next two seasons. "If" they send out any of the three it's either bringing back an equal headache from another team, or a lot of cash is going with them. I don't see Hendry admitting that kind of mistake.
  20. I agree. While I think it's a perfect move for the Cards to make now, I don't want them to run out and sign him to a long term contract. He's a nice piece of the puzzle. Not the whole puzzle.
  21. Yeah, as a Cards fan I'm pretty excited. The price tag wasn't too high, and it does a couple much needed things. It provides Pujols a little more protection (no, I don't think he's going to see a steady diet of fastballs now) and it sends the message that they're serious about winning the division this year. I think this might be the "big" move by the Cards however. I don't see the Holliday trade happening now. Perez (and several others) would have been a part of that deal. It's a very solid move. His position flexibility on a La Russa team makes him very valuable. They still have problems with the 4-5 starters, and too many #6 hitters. It's a flawed team, but much better than they were on Friday.
  22. Nobody looks like they want to win the division right now.
  23. Keep the new bleachers and the ivy. Replace everything else with an updated version of the existing park. It would take about 2 games of going to a new park for people to get over "the loss" and embrace it. You can't tell me that the players wouldn't love a new clubhouse. Getting in and out of the park is a pain in the ass. The bathrooms are a horror. What digital advertising and scoreboards they have look out of place and forced. And the food is terrible. Just because it's old doesn't make it good. You're paying "New Stadium" prices for your tickets, so you might as well be able to enjoy what a new stadium can bring to your experience.
  24. Oh, I could have made it worse. :stickman:
