  1. The part about him being in the organization hurts more than his poor play. His mental lapses gave them the reasoning to send him down, pride has kept him from being released. Same with Descalso, although his is strictly production but neither should see Wrigley beyond the stands.
  2. In July Garcia has a 1.020 OPS to Russell's .723. That's a bigger sample size and a much bigger margin. Also Jon Lester has a 1.400 OPS in July. Arbitrary sample sizes are fun. i know you are being sarcastic but arbitrary sample sizes that make Russell look bad are fun Unfortunately who he is, is not fun.
  3. Any guesses for the AFL? Nico Thompson or Little Lange Short Kelly Amaya Hatch
  4. Jose Lopez of the DSL would have 218 BBs in 500ABs at his current pace.
  5. What is Lange's stuff nowadays? Just a couple years ago he was a 1st round pick in the college WS with a solid fastball, a great curve ball and a developing change up. He didn't get hurt, I don't know why his stuff backtracked? I remember talk about him being a better reliever because of his max effort on pitches, but that transition hasn't happened. Low 90s FB, limited sign of the breaking ball that got into the 1st and a better change. Without his curve, he's a marginal pitcher and more likely minor league depth than a prospect,IMO.
  6. There's no reason for him not to be. You currently have non-prospects(like Daniel) playing 2b beyond High-A. I'm all for Slaughter going as well with Reynolds sinking or swimming at High A. You have older Of'ers in Eugene as well but...
  7. Lange with the nice magic trick tonight of giving up 7 unearned runs lowering his ERA to under 3. Marginal pitcher getting by on smoke, mirrors, and bad defense.
  8. I absolutely need video of this Nvm found it Overall, our fanbase as a whole is pretty terrible. We're not as pretentious as others but there's a lot of embarrassment.
  9. This. Please don't ruin the only forum worth following.
  10. One can only hope this means they're done shopping at the Dollar Tree for positional help.
  11. It's the same logic why you probably feel the Cubs always get shut down by some no name rookie making his 1st start, despite it not being true.
  12. I can only assume you have never gone through a divorce with kids involved.
  13. Please call them the Montreal Rays so I can use the anagram "Teary Normals".
  14. May I ask why? Legit question, no snark intended. Projection, they seem to be doing better with LA pitchers with Nunez, he's still adding strength with a FB that sits low to mid 90s, ability to flash spin, but struggles with control/command. Seeing him not in Mesa is encouraging.
  15. Excited to see Nunez in the rotation, hopefully he'll stay there even with the influx of 19 draftees (even if they only get 30Ip)
  16. Although Auer was my favorite of the prep players I seen the Cubs take (between him, Schlaffer, and Ritter), I'm glad they've been aggressive in signing the HS'ers and not really needing Auer as an insurance policy.
  17. IIRC, Gomez came from Baltimore and was brought in after Gary Scott failed and was later traded for an injured Kal Daniels who doubled in his 1st AB and could not run. Meh, I was wrong it was Buechele who came over then Gomez, then Orie. Kal Daniels did have the greatest Sports Machine highlight of all time Ugh, I remember staying up until 11:30 pm watching George Michael's sports machine. While I would watch because of the memories (much like watching TWIB), I would probably be amazed at how bad they were.

  19. I was expecting a slower development with Davis, been extremely impressed with his approach.
  20. I need a Duke article stating why this is a great move so I know it's the final nail.
  21. The reaction here to the Cubs 1st pick draft will be.... Initial - "Meh" After some processing -"Eh maybe? Hopefully they're saving money for after the 1st 10." More processing -" I can see why" Final conclusion - "good pick." Then he becomes Almora. Rinse and repeat.
  22. I think they locked in his stride, looking at his HS and UL delivery his stride was inconsistent. Also, coming off TJS will take time. He only had 48 IP of college. Hopefully, he makes it as a starter as he's top 5 in organization as far as pure stuff ahead of former 1st rounders.
  23. Glad to see Remy get another start for sB! He's intriguing in that he was scouted as only having a FB and not much else. Yet, his Ks indicate that there must be good secondary stuff. Combine that with his ability to throw strikes as well as a frame similar to Edwards (already sits low to mid 90s), gives me hope they may have something.
  24. There's a lot of similarities between him and Seal boy (before 2019). He's not as good of a hitter but similar eye and marginal ability to play various IF positions.
