  1. Just to confirm: the game is being broadcast in color, right?
  2. I'll settle for a couple rally-helping walks and runs scored, driving Kluber out early. GO CUBS!
  3. I choose to believe that Theo and Jed put that clip together themselves during some downtime after the trade deadline, because they knew this would happen. I'm sure they have something spectacular in the can for his first WS bomb. are you abuck? If not, what happened to abuck? Also, as a corollary, did you kill him? AFAIK, I am not responsible for the untimely death or disappearance of any other NSBB posters. I come in peace. Mostly.
  4. I only caught a few minutes at the end amidst other distractions... But after Joe dropped, Spiegel & Goff said something like they saw lineups flash on the scoreboard like for a tech check. Had both Contreras and Zobrist, with Schwarber 9th at DH. Obviously not official and even they were taking with a grain of salt, but apparently guided some of their earlier questions that elicited the "Kyle will play" and "additional surprise" comments from Joe. FWIW.
  5. "Kyle will play" -- Maddon on The Score. Deferred when asked how high in the lineup.

  7. Pinch me. Still getting used to seeing, FINALLY, a Cubs WS game thread on NSBB! I don't think it'll seem truly real until I see Dex digging in against Kluber amidst all the World Series logos, and realizing that these two teams are the last ones playing. Also seems poetic that when the Cubs get through the LCS and win the pennant, they're facing an "old timey" AL club. In 1984 it seemed destined they'd get a rematch with the Tigers, their last WS opponent. Then 2003 was lining up for them to meet either the Yankees or Red Sox; enough said. Now it's finally a thing, and they get the Indians, bearing a drought of their own, whose last champion starred player-manager Lou Boudreau, himself later a longtime Cubs broadcaster. I don't know what to feel or how to think about this one objectively, the mind still reels that this is actually happening. Go CUBS! :yahoo:
  8. I'm still kind of in a weird place where I don't know how to feel and it hasn't fully sunken in yet. It might take the whole offseason to process. The 1908/1945 dates are something that we've all been raised with in our heads. One of those has been erased, and the other could/should fall too. I can't just flip a switch in my head. Yep, it's a paradigm shift. Some of us grew up enduring decades of "when the Cubs win the World Series" as a common punchline. (Hi Johnny Carson!) Young kids today are on the verge of growing up with them as perennial postseason stars. It's... different. Feels like the earth's rotation has been reversed or something.
  9. I know, I keep thinking, "So in the end all it took to get over the hump was overwhelming young talent: great SP, good bullpen, solid defense at every position, and a balanced offense that put pressure on opponents essentially 1-8, and often 1-9 (and well suited for AL parks). Easy, right?"
  10. Felt like it, given extras in 3 and late charge in 4... But he should obviously know better, or be made to know better
  11. OMG DOROTHY ON FS1!!!!!! Jagermeister for everyone! \:D/
  12. Sorry if this has been asked but: How do we match up against Hill tomorrow? I mean, given that he and Kershaw "have the blueprint" to shutting down the Cubs and everything?
  13. I'm numb. I thought I'd be crying but the way this unfolded, wow, cloud nine. In shock I think. Thy finally did it! Yes! Go Cubs!
  14. Waiving off kiddo bedtime to stay up for the rest
  15. And Kyle Hendricks should be lucky to be on the same mound as him for his maximum of 5 innings where he just tries to give his team a chance. Kyle is the fittest man alive, so it's not a fair comparison. Kershaw is at maybe 5%, 10% tops.

  17. Smoltz tonight: Kershaw is a horse who they'll ride as long as needed, even if it takes 140 pitches. But we have to recognize he might be hurt and not 100%, so this beating doesn't count. =D>
  18. Trying to reassert himself for LCS MVP before it's too late
  19. Whatever it is, they are picking him up WORLDS better than game 2
  20. In a way, glad Kyle gave up that leadoff hit. Because he might not give up another, and this way he doesn't have that pressure of a postseason no-no weighng on him.
  21. That would be the Dave Roberts, "YOLO - I'm tanking this franchise " move.
  22. Ugh. 2-run KB dagger was just waiting to be hit!
  23. Uh, I'd take CK throwing 140 pitches, sure Smoltzy
