  1. I have Liriano and Santana on my fantasy team. http://67.18.37.15/html/emoticons/wub.gif I have Z also, I think I'll have to place a call to him.
  2. I blame myself, I shouldn't have drafted Z. Sorry guys.
  3. I'd say Braves no matter what happens with the Cubs.
  4. You bring up a good point. I don't think Zambrano's lack of emotional control is a result of being of Latin descent, but probably does have something to do with being raised in Latin America. The environmental differences between there and the United States are great, and I think had Z grown up here as an American, would have much more control over his emotions, be more analytical on the mound, and possess much more poise and composure. Joe? Lol. FJM 4 lyfe, yo.
  5. He can't hit, but he's fast. I don't think his defense is anything special either. The A's mostly used him to run last year, if I recall correctly.
  6. I was a huge fan of any outfield that had Glenallen in it. http://67.18.37.15/2298/12/emo/flashstar.gif
  7. The source is probably Tom House.
  8. Or it will be on ESPN deportes at 2 am.

  10. Or if you have family in say, California...
  11. Nice link. Seems there is a difference in a torn and frayed labrum. Reading parts of that reminded me of my shoulder seperation, and I felt similar to how I feel when I see a bad knee injury in a game. After my own shoulder issues this last fall, I really didn't enjoy reading that. Blech. Yeah, I started feeling queasy. :(
  12. I went to both of the home games in the '89 NLCS. Will Clark... :( '98 One game playoff was much more fun.
  13. Are you moving to the Bronx? Naah, I'll get to see the finally go down here in Oakland.
  14. It will be fun to finally get to see a world series game in person.
  15. SI's baseball analysis is really poor. I cancelled my subscription partially because of that. I think they have tried to fix it in the past year.
  16. Is Arroyo really that good though? I think he's completely replacable, and no better than Jerome Williams. His unimpressive major league numbers are more or less in-line with his equally blah minor league stats. I don't see him turning into much more than a mediocre innings eater. Baseballreference.com compares him closely to Harang and Harkey, not exactly solid company. Now, Griffey has his own issues, but I wouldn't go as far as saying he can't play CF anymore, and Boston needs a CF. Jerome Williams is better than Arroyo, and much younger.
  17. Atlanta and Los Angeles both build their system around "ceiling and toolsy players" and they have two of the best farm systems in baseball. The decline in the farm system has more to do with, like you said, our recent failures in latin america and asia, John Stocksill's mediocre drafts, and injuries. In LA's, count the number of everyday position players they have that have come from their system. It's not a very big number. They had Izturis, and before that, who? LoDuca? Piazza? It's not as if LA's a factory of productive young players the way Atlanta does. I think (hope) he was talking about the Angels.
  18. Yeah, it is crazy, he was born the day before me.
  19. Many of the players are overpaid mediocrities who should thank their lucky stars this staff is around to both pay them as well as they do and play them as often as they do. I'm guessing many younger players are growing sick of the Cubs. Murton is playing the good little boy right now, but most organizations that still rely so heavily on the good ole boy network and service time over achievement eventually start to lose their most quality young people. There will be a new front office by the time Prior is a free agent anyway.
  20. 13. With the lack of picks from rounds 2-4, it'd be nice if the Cubs turned that round 2-4 signing bonus money into a nice Latin American player. And it'd be even nicer if the Cubs properly returned to the international scene. Zambrano, Guzman, Pie, Cedeno, Pinto, Choi, Ryu were/are all valuable assets to the franchise. Agreed. Although, plenty of quality players fall in the draft due to signability concerns (Eric Patterson and Micah Owings in '04, for example). I'd like to see the Cubs nab some of those guys and throw money at them. That would be most welcome, imo. Agreed, the cubs can take some shots at guys who fall and give them higher round money. They had better sign them though, or the draft will be really bad this year.
  21. I thought Mind Game was a bit disappointing. I'm a BP subscriber, I didn't think it was up to the quality of their best stuff. There were a number of grammar and spelling mistakes as well.
