  1. ohman signed for 610k today. oddly they didn't split the difference. I think he's worth a fifth of eyre - probably even a fifth of vodka. coming from a man that doesnt drink....thats high praise indeed
  2. :lmao:
  3. we've got an adam dunn man love thread going in transactions....isnt this kinda redundant?
  4. i'm definately up for it, dates dont matter much so long as i have a little warning as to when, although i must say weekends are better for me
  5. I lived in Charlotte for a couple of years. The fans there didn't have any problem with the Hornets, it was all about their owner. If he would have sold the team, they would have flourished there. It's true that North Carolina has a lot of Braves fans. But it was also true that NC had a lot of Falcons fans before the Panthers came into being, and that didn't seem to hurt the Panthers any. I truly believe that the Charlotte area could support MLB, and better than Miami did, at that. edit: and I sure would love to go back to Charlotte once a year to see the CUBS play !!! things to consider in the 01-02 season the hornets had an average attendance of 11,286 the league average was 16,778. the hornets came in second in their division. not very good attendance #'s for a team that actually competed now consider that NC is a huge basketball state the panthers were new when the falcolns just sucked and the panthers charged out of the gate...easy to switch teams in that scenero, but the braves, who's fans need to be won over to make charolette baseball viable, are perenial winners where as the marlins are...gutted...i dont see the city embracing a loseing team in place of the braves. again remember basketball is first in ppls hearts here as much as i would like to see it happen and work, and yes i would love to have an easy 2 hour drive to see the cubs once a year, i just dont see it working out
  6. im all for this move(i live in NC and have to travel to atlanta for MLB) but i dont think it will happen and if it does it wont work, charolette couldnt support the Hornets and they're not supporting the bobcats any better. also, you gotta figure that baseball fans in this area are braves fans and wont likely change their colors that readily
  7. i have nothing to back this up and theres a high likelyhood that im wrong, but my gut tells me that Dusty views Jerry as nothing more than a back up for the outfield
  8. mine will say "IN MY LIFETIME PLEASE?!? DMZ"
  9. is this a shocker, i'd be gone if i were mark, just another case of bad management!
  10. what happened to "im lokin for guys that can catch the ball?"
  11. i'll be paying closer attn to the O's this year
  12. Maybe I should take suggestions from you, the guy who runs the site which currently looks like this? ... His site should mean nothing to you. Actually, what should mean something to you is that he criticized your grammar. Interesting though, he did use a fragment at the end of his critique. "Needs a lot of work" is not a sentence. So maybe he should double check his post before he criticizes someone for doing what he does. Therefore, take what you can from the other critiques, but ignore those who simply have nothing to say. :D First off, you must have me confused with someonelse, as I do not run a website. Secondly there is a big difference in critiquing ones grammar on a message board compared to a term paper that is going to be handed in to be graded. Like I said I wasn't trying to denigrate him it was more a critique of how little grammar is taught in school anymore. Critique the grammar in my posts if you would like, I have been out of school for close to 15 years and do not do a lot of writing in my field, I do not claim to be perfect nor do I proofread everyone of my posts. You asked for opinions/critique I gave it to you. Take it or leave it you don't have to try and personally attack me. general criticism without suggestions on how to correct problems wasnt solicited and really doesnt do anything except possibly falsely bolster the critics ego by tearing down others, just seems kinda mean spirited. Saber was looking for help with his ROUGH DRAFT, seeking outside proof readers is actually quite intelligent and industrious, i think the point is, if you have nothing constructive to add then why open your trap? maybe if you are so disgusted with the education system, you could start a thread in "rants." no need to bust on a kid who is actually putting forth the extra effort to see that his assignment is as good as he can make it before he turns it in. well put... thanks, that crap kinda irked me

  14. i didnt read it terribly closely, more of a scan, so im sure i missed some things, but other posters seem to have picked it over pretty well. other than the things already mentioned by other posters, your use of the phrase "a lot"(in the paragraph on RBI and runs)is glareingly bad. NEVER use "a lot"(or any other slang for that matter) in a paper, it shows lack of vocabulary skills and laziness(not calling you lazy, when i wrote papers i often used "a lot" in rough drafts, and you see im too lazy to even use the shift key when i type) plug words like "frequently" or "often" in place of "a lot", hell maybe even break out a thesaurus. one other thing, there is a quote by bill james that isnt offset by quotation marks.
  15. i have a isuzu rodeo(same as a honda passport) with 190K on it, this summer i drove it all over the country logging nearly 40K miles between may and october. the only work i had to do on it other than routine maintance was to replace the radiator. the $2K i paid for it 4 years ago was by far the best investment in a vehicle i ever made
  16. not to hijack the thread, but this is new to me, East TN may end up with a Cubs farm team? what level and to what town? I just moved to NW NC, it would be awsome to have a Cubs affiliate as my closest pro ball team... edit: disregard this post, Ijust answered my questions, the Diamond Jaxx AA likely to go to Nashville... Nashville isnt East TN, its pretty much central TN, 5-6 hour drive for me
  17. surely you jest!?!
  18. blame WGN its all you can do
  19. i was going to refrain from voting in hopes that JH would pull his head out of his arse, but then he signed Nefi to a 2 yr deal :wall: i'm nearing the end of my life long love affair with the Cubs JH is clearly clueless :pukel:
  20. makes me wonder if maybe the victims were in some way involved with the kidnapping of Ugeth's mother(that was what a year or so ago?)
  21. Jim Edmonds
