  1. That's not true. If I am wrong I will admit it but I am pretty sure the rule says something along the lines of a pitched ball being expactorated on and so on and so on. I dont think there is a rule in baseball that says a Pitcher cannot have stuff on his hand. I dont remember all the details of the Taveraz case but in the case of Joe Neikro and I think Rick Honeycutt the balls were checked first. They were found to have been altered and than they examined the pitchers. if the bolded part is correct, why then is a pitcher refrained from "going to the mouth" while on the mound?
  2. if you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough
  3. 18 year old drinking age?? drinking age in DC was 18 well into the 80's...blame it on MADD or drunk kids...actually come to think of it, DC held out as long as they could w/o losing federal funding for roads...MADD was instrumental in the change, in the mid 80's they were a real force
  4. 18 year old drinking age?? drinking age in DC was 18 well into the 80's...blame it on MADD or drunk kids...
  5. i was under the impression that you were much younger than that
  6. thats almost as funny as this http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o42/yetiman1212/scan.jpg
  7. I never got really turned on by hockey till I was in H.S., by then I was living in the DC area and became a Capitals fan...but boy do they suck! In the last few years I have pretty much moved away from hockey cause Ive really had nothing to root for(its one thing to root for a crappy baseball team, but a crappy baseball team AND a crappy hockey team? thats year round loseing)...Im beginning to think I should reach back to my Chicago roots and adopt the Blackhawks...afterall the only reason I became a Caps fan was cause in HS I could go to games and get ripped w/o worrying about having an ID(gotta love an 18 year old drinking age(wow i just really dated myself))
  8. Get 2 more and Pinktermite will be happy. :lmao: i litterally spit my vodka tonic at my monitor
  9. im guessing that Tim wouldnt really care
  10. cant even hold on to the ball
  11. contending in the worst division in MLB isnt exactly what anyone is hopeing for, if all we do is contend in the central, this Sweaty Lou experiment will be a complete flop
  12. God himself could descend from heaven directly upon Wrigley to manage the Cubs and wouldn't be enough for some around here. That's some ridiculous hyperbole. but the best kind of hyperbole is ridiculous hyperbole
  13. this is my biggest concern when it comes to Sweaty Lou.
  14. Just curious, where did you hear him say this? Did he say it in the playoff broadcasts or something? I haven't really been watching. Baseball has been dead to me since May or so. yes he made several comments like this during the play off broadcasts
  15. according to Bruce Miles' latest article sweaty lou has "taken himself out of the running for the SF job"
  16. yeah, ive heard Acta mentioned too, i hope he's not on JH's radar simply because of the wait that would be involved, now that the Padres are done for the season, im hopeing something happens quickly.
  17. Holy Crap! Shrink the kentdamn avatar! no kidding, i thought somehow i had changed some setting without realizing it till i scrolled down a bit
  18. seems to me that Jim wants to talk to someone who's team was or still is in the playoffs, im willing to be patient...i sure hope whoever it is doesnt make the WS and we can get this over with sooner than later
  19. Piniella has denied that he has spoken to the Yankees, as per fox sports on the card/pad pre-game show
  20. Bruce, first off i'd like to thank you for the time you spend on the forums, your insight and comments make this place a much more informitive and enjoyable board. my question(although we may have an answer by the time you get a chance to answer these questions) is, what do you think the chances of Bruce Bochy being hired as the next manager of the Cubs are? also, do you think that waiting for Bochy is the reason that JH is moving slowly on hiring a manager?
  21. so am i to understand that you want the cubs take on yet another rehab project in hopes that he might be able to contribute? no thank you, the man has a shreaded labrum and his shoulder socket is cracked...if he comes back it wont be next year
  22. im beginning to like the idea of bochy, could it be that JH is waiting for the express purpose of getting bruce?
  23. peavy pitched 202 innings in the regular season this year....making him the #1 innings guy in SD and #23 in the NL...doesnt seem to me like bochy rode any of his starters particularly hard, this year anyway
  24. no, they just talked about the yankees all night
  25. "oh no, there goes tokyo...go go..." please!
