  1. if no deal gets worked out, Schmidt loses nothing by waiting he could lose the 12 year $212 million Hendry offers him tomorrow in a take it or leave it deal. :lmao:

  3. Why? he's not a FA, the red sox have him over a barrel. that situation is too disconnected to make a big impact, I'd think why would a FA sign a deal when there is someone out there that plays the same position and is on a deadline to get a deal done? obviously we cant look at what Mats signs for and equate it to what the market will bear, but it will give a general ballpark range. adding Mats posting price to the total deal he recieves and dividing by years is where i'd expect the bidding to begin for my services, if i were Schmidt. yes the sox have him over a barrel, but when you consider that they have already commited 50+ million to sign him, the Sox are going to be paying alot/year to retain his services. as an established front line starter, Schmidt would be a fool to take less...i dont see him signing anywhere till the other deal(Sox/Mats) is done Well if the bid and contract really were setting the table: 51 Mil plus $10Mil year? 3 yrs 81 = 27 M/year 4 yrs 91 = 22.75 M/year 5 yrs 101 = 20.2 M/year According to you, the bidding starts there. If thats setting the table this market market has gone crazy and Soriano is a steal. DING DING DING DING we have a winner!!!! EDIT...maybe thats not where the bidding starts, but if im a proven front of the rotation pitcher, i want to see how that shakes out b4 i even begin to entertain suitors

  5. dont expect anything to happen here until after the BoSox and Mats work something out, this will set the bar for FA pitchers this offseason
  6. In 25AB: .360 .407 .840 1.247 Not bad at all... yeah, but that was against Cubs pitching
  7. not much could keep me from watching baseball next season, but that line-up could very possibly do the trick That lineup would keep you from watching baseball? any Cubs line-up with Bonds in it would turn me into a passive watcher at best, and if i did watch baseball next season it would likely be the Nationals or Braves.

  9. No, no we couldn't. I disagree. I think we could. What happened to Rich Hill? Tragic chainsaw juggling accident. Dont say that too loud. Seriously though, it was a lapse of the mind. Edit my comment to read: We could get by having a rotation of Z, Prior, Hill, Miller, Marshall/Marmol. this scenero tragically brings to mind the phrase "if they're healthy"
  10. only time my dog wakes me up at 3am is when theres someone in my yard, i consider this a good thing. also my dog doesnt crap in a crap filled box inside my house and then jump on my kitchen counter, again a good thing.

  16. whats better than a $100 mil train wreck? a $140 mil train wreck seriously though, im beginning to think Hendry might actually have a plan that includes fielding a winning team for 2007 Scary isn't it? Hendry with a plan? It'd be a little like GW Bush with a plan...no wait, not that scary :) you might could dupe me into believing JH has a plan(in fact im almost there), but W? i aint that gullible
  17. "hack wilson(probably)" rich... didnt the country go into THE depression right after that? remind me if the cubs look like they might go to the series, to sell all my stocks and buy gold?
  18. we've been screwed about as many times as we've benifited i dont see any reason to prolong a baseball game any further i could see sensors along the foul line to instantly let us know fair or foul, long strike or HR, outside that you're making an extremely long sporting event even longer
