  1. I agree that based on his total numbers with the Cubs, Maddux shouldn't have his number retired. But to say he had "2 seasons of bad, old, overrated Maddux" is not sound reasoning. Looking at his numbers in his 2nd stint with the Cubs, he was essentially league average during that stint. His ERAs during his 2nd stint with the Cubs were 4.02, 4.24, and 4.69 with his short stint during his final yr in Chicago. His whips during those yrs were 1.18, 1.22, 1.29. His ERA+ were 109, 104, and 99. So no, I would not call his second stint "bad, old, overrated Maddux", he was league average. i think he's speaking relatively to the rest of his career....there is no reason Maddux's # should be retired by the cubs....fergie on the other hand....it will be a shame if they wreck fergies day by mentioning maddux
  2. and the weak check swing grounders
  3. pfft, cant even drive in a runner from 3rd with 1 out
  4. what kills me even more is that they keep showing the Cubs logo every time theres a graphic on him
  5. if he had gotten out of the way, i think the ump would have called the pitch a strike
  6. probably just brushing it out
  7. that's awesome, i hope he keeps it
  8. HAHAHAHAHA I love those guys. Haha. They're soooooo Gritty!!!! national champion gritty mmmmhmmm
  9. i'm pretty sure that even though you're in ND, you have the same access to simple box scores as i do
  10. you saw it, admit it. you just wanted to try out your new powers I'm actually having trouble doing what I want...so I'm really showing off my lack of mod powers. practice practice practice
  11. you saw it, admit it. you just wanted to try out your new powers
  12. thats not a porn pop up! it's a "dating service" pop up ;)
  13. if one of our pitchers is hurt during ST, i'd rather have it happen in cubs camp then in the WBC. mostly so we dont have to wade through the hundreds of posts crying about how the WBC screwed us
  14. yeah, after a little digging, it was briefly mentioned in the "cubs in the WBC" thread. for some reason i thought the discussion was more in depth, my bad.
  15. not to nitpick, but hasnt this been discussed?
  16. im not a huge fan yet, im sure that will change once the season starts...i still check the line up daily though cause they so have good stuff
  17. knee? which time?
  18. did he give you any concrete reasons behind his "feeling" or did he leave it at that?
  19. thanks for the link vance. interesting read,, although i gotta agree with vance on the subject of the health of Big Z and Harden being big concerns. those 2 and Bradley are my big worries at this point.
  20. how can you not like craig biggio? agreed on bagwell. His tendency to cover his elbow in body armor and lean into pitches? we have a winner! on the subject of Biggio getting hit by pitched, i must say that seeing Wood drill him in the 20K game was particularly gratifying
  21. but anyway...i got wet watching Kid K KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK(i think thats 20, wish i could turn them backwards for "looking"), sorry to get off topic 8-[
  22. there is a reason i call the sweet sunny south my home! Yeah.... 'cause Illinois won't give you a visa, right ?? hey man one day i'll prove them wrong and all will be good, but i'll still call the south home.... dammit i hate it when i screw up clipping quotes plus, im used to walking around with a pistol and a 6 inch blade....i'd get thrown in jail for that crap in chi....around here its expected....of course i feel the need for my "friends" when im in chi more than here... funny thing is i'm probably the most poorly armed person i know here, but i never go anywhere w/o at least 2 loaded guns close by
  23. lmfrao, aint none of them down south here...even if there was, it would be an hours journey...30 to where it would be and 30 back See there, I'm having one of them senior moments. In my mind, you're still on Addison st and not back down in North Carolina. Reality is highly overrated, no? it was 65 and sunny today! 55 and overcast here. so much nicer where you are !!! there is a reason i call the sweet sunny south my home!
