Maybe this needs its own thread, but...
2016 vs. 2025... which has been more fun?
Obviously the 2016 expectations were through the roof after the 2015 season. And of course... they delivered!
But I can't help but think I'm having more fun with the 2025 team because:
1) The expectations were much lower going into this season than 2016. It's bonus fun!
2) This team looks like they're having so much fun with their success (not that the 2016 team didn't have fun...
they just expected to win. The 2025 Cubs are just enjoying this new found success).
3) Like 2016... there are a lot of guys you just want to root for.
Maybe it's just me... but the vibe is different. I'm just riding the wave of success this 2025 team is bringing a little more than 2016.
Am I crazy? (Wait... don't answer that.)
(edited a typo)
Gotta love the fact that the Brewers and Cardinals have played their best baseball of the season to date and have actually lost a little ground in the standings.
Probably a question that deserves its own thread, but... is this sustainable? 33 games in is a decent sample size (20% of the season so far.) However, I'm a Cubs fan and this is baseball, so....
It's great that it's worked so well, it's buying time for Shaw and PCA to work through early season struggles without it drastically affecting the win column.
I want to see Johnson at Halas Hall with a Bears hat on and standing at a podium with Ryan Poles and Kevin Warren in the background. Top if off with a horsefeathers-eating grin on George McCaskey. Then I'll believe it.
If ever a team needed to go out on a high note... it was the Bears. And yes, ending an bazillion game losing streak by beating the playoff bound Packers in Green Bay constitutes as a high note.
Still gotta clean house with the coaching staff. Need a fresh start.
Feel sorry for Parker Jones. The kid got a little too excited and cost his team 15 yards. I don't believe it ultimately was a deciding factor in the game... but ESPN putting his face on TV meant his face got plastered all over the internet.
Poor kid didn't even have a helmet to pull over his head.
