Recruiting guru on Phog says Beal decision will be at 10 in the AM tomorrow, and he says while the Beal camp hasn't leaked anything, it "appears" to be Florida or KU. He's also saying he could be wrong about that.

That loss aside, I like ISU this year. They'll be a tough team. If only they'd been able to keep Wes Johnson.

I could see Kansas firing Mangino and winding up with a worse coach, though. I can't see many top coaches beating down their door--they'll likely need to scout a relative unknown looking for an opportunity. There's a real chance of getting a worse coach. Absolutely no question about it. But they can't keep Mangino. His total mismanagement of this season aside, there's absolutely no way he'll be able to recruit with the allegations of abuse to players. So he's gotta go. The pipedream hire is Patterson from TCU. He's from Kansas, so he has ties to the state. But he could get much better BCS jobs than KU, and even if he couldn't, honestly, TCU is a better program. Realistically, I like Gill. Big 12 guy. Allegedly a good recruiter. I think he's from Texas, so he can probably recruit well there. From a personality standpoint, the polar opposite of Mango. I'd also be very interested in Charlie Strong and Kevin Sumlin. After that, I'd be interested in Larry Fedora (Southern Miss). Just say no to Randy Edsall or Venables. Someone on the KU board threw out Frank Solich, too. Interesting idea, but he's gotta be like 1000 years old now.

I think ODU might be pretty decent. And not just bc they beat OU, who looks terrible this year. I think you are getting Old Dominion and Virginia Commonwealth mixed up. Not that it matters, because Old Dominion could probably run the Sooners out of the gym too. Oops. You are correct. My bad.

are you a premium member at phog? if you aren't you likely wouldn't have heard anything. i was in the right place at the right time. from what i understand, he's going to make a decision very soon. very soon. I am. That's where the head recruiting guy said Beal was examining other options and taking a hard look at Mizzou. I posted a thread, asking the head recruiting guy about this rumor, but he still hasn't replied. ah, right on, i figured you were after i re-examined your first sentence. i'm not sure what the communication is between the guys who work for rivals and scout and the illini boards and phog.net even. i'm also not sure where this guy gets his info but i guess he's respected enough as far as the posters on scout are concerned. So the phog recruiting expert said he's hearing that Beal will announce Mon, that Fla is the rumored leader, and that Self is scheduled to go in and see him tomorrow. The recruiting guy said he's still exhausting all avenues for info.

NOOOOOOOOO You never had a chance. I don't buy that Kansas is out of it. I'm pretty confident if it's us vs. Florida, we'll get him. I'm not sure I buy this rumor that it's down to UI/UF, either. The lead recruiting expert at Phog has just recently said Beal was poised to look at more schools (specifically Mizzou), not whittle it down. I suppose things could have changed in the last week, but I'm skeptical. There's also virtually no discussion of this on the Phog, which seems weird.

It's all in fun Agreed. I'm just point plankn. What's up with the people in KC? Two decent games last night and the Sprint Center was about half full? Dunno. Iowa fans prob took a pass because they're so bad. Texas fans probably stayed in Texas to watch high school football practices.

he got kicked out off the team. you should have mentioned luther, he choked his girlfriend because she didn't want to watch roots. that's some [expletive] you can't make up. That is effed up. And Jamar was only kicked off the team after he did something else wrong I thought. But that's how every program runs. I think it's silly when everyone brags about how clean their program is.

Yes they do, they even had them on their warmups at Midnight Madness. Five looks better than three to recruits. That's assuming Zah-vee-A can count that high. X is supposed to be a good student, I believe.
