  1. The French Open is the ONLY professional tennis tournament that still uses line judges. Sometimes AI gives you wrong advice. The ATP and WTA tours do not use a human line judge. Neither does Wimbledon, the US Open, or the Australian Open.
  2. They should have unlimited challenges until they do away with umpires calling balls and strikes. It's stupid. We have this highly accurate system, but we are still relying on humans who are less reliable. Tennis did away with it long ago, and you don't even hear about it anymore.
  3. Agree about Birdsell and Mathis. Sanders is likely a middle reliever
  4. Imagine if Jordan Len Biased right after the draft? They’d be the worst franchise in the history of sports.
  5. I think it would mean more younger players get long term contracts. But overall less money means just that.
  6. of course MLB.tv isn't working
  7. Brett has an article on BN showing 17 teams would be outside the cap-floor of the owners reported proposal
  8. Unless he's unlocked something we don't know about, I expect Kelly to regress pretty significantly this year.
  9. Yes, that is the occipital lobe back there. He could get vision problems for life if he got hit. But I'm kind of thinking this is some AI creation.
  10. The first year he came to the Cubs, he had about the best ST, I've ever seen a pitcher have. I don't think he walked anyone and just looked dominating (I use to be able to watch games). Then he came out to start the season and shat the bed. ST is so weird. The good thing with Jamo is that you sort of know what you are going to get right off the start. When he's bad, he's really bad.
  11. For the lazy among us, why does he think high balls are missed? Just data from bad calls?
  12. Alcanatara.
  13. I don't know how they value franchises, but I would think it's a double whammy for them. They aren't worth as much without their own stadium, and that's why they cannot afford one, lol. If I were them, I'd take on 49% partnership/owners to finance the stadium in AH, and build an entertainment district like the dickheads who own the Cubs are doing. They don't have to share any of that with the NFL.
  14. Was he a filthy cheater?
  15. We need to treat this one like the old Soriano thread with the photoshopped pictures. Another one of the greatest threads in NSB(B) history.
  16. So the fault lines for the next lock out/strike. The owners want a cap. And apparently want to do away with low A clubs and not draft high school seniors. The strategy is clear- lower salaries and push entry into MLB to later in life cutting earning potential for players over the balance of their career. So instead of breaking in at 23-24, players will be breaking in at 25-26 and not have free agent rights until 32. There some talk of raising the salary minimums and quicker free agency. They are writing the destruction of baseball so they can squeeze until the players bleed all the money back to them. it will be interesting to see if the teams open the books or just pull arbitrary numbers. I’m sure the current executive Administration can help them with that.
  17. Fat ass pitchers who come to camp overweight and then have pulled muscles that never heal because they are out of shape.
  18. The Hammond Bears just doesn't have the same ring to it. They are following the money like all good late-stage capitalists. We are in for so much pain. I feel so bad for my kids. I saw a thing about millennials Born after 9/11 Enter college when expenses are out of the middle class ability to pay enter the job market during COVID Enter the housing market during a housing crisis By mid career their jobs will be taken by AI By retiremient there will be no Social Security All so millionaires and billionaires can have it all.
  19. Exceptions to rule doesn’t make a rule. That’s just dumb ass luck.
  20. In the article, he said he feels more comfortable with the change, and the sinker is brand new, never used in a game. It's almost impossible to be an MLB starter with a two-pitch arsenal, so that is a great development. Wicks worked on mechanical processes and adjusted his grip to achieve greater sink. But his real problem is the same as Assad, they are bad-bodied pitchers who lack conditioning to make it through a full season. If he can't stay healthy and in the rotation, he's going to be a relief pitcher. This is his last chance at starting, and he should be a trade candidate this season. I don't know the rules of MLB, but I don't understand why the Cubs don't invest in offseason programs for these guys. And by that I mean don't give them a to-do list. Get them a team of nutritionists and biomechanists, and keep them in Arizona for at least part of the offseason to monitor and manage them. Same with Mo. There is no reason he should come to ST grossly overweight.
  21. Solid B for me. I don't give + and -. Those are for sucks. The Dodgers definitely get an A - They got one of the best closers and one of the best hitters Mets definitely get an A I think the Pirates and Reds had a really good offseason, solid B for them. I think the Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox, and Cardinals (on purpose) had terrible offseasons. Since there are not that many ST games on the radio or TV, I can hardly wait for the season to start.
  22. A- and B+ are the same grade for anyone wondering.
