I think our boy Kyle Hendricks was one of the best at that. He had so many different speeds to his change-up. Late-career Maddux was great, too.

Big Mo and Assad are not in camp yet due to Visa problems. I was hoping we'd get a shot of slimmed-down young men.

Can they do that unilaterally or do they need to negotiate it as part of the CBA? I'd really hate it. I'm sure Tom has a 5,000 word post on it somewhere. -
I'd put PCA and Jim Edmonds in there, too. I was at a game in Yankee Stadium when Edmonds played for the Angels in 1997, and he made the most amazing catch I've ever seen in person. PCA is different; he's so smooth and anticipatory that he makes hard catches look easy.

Someone probably turned off his wifi or made it a local network so he could vent racist horsefeathers and no one else would see it. He still said something about the halftime show and kickoff rule before the game.

If I'm not mistaken, he'd be the only Black (American) player on the roster. I love him and he's pretty salty about being dumped by the Pirates, so why not?

Mo's biggest concern is power. He's big, but not big. I honestly see him as a poor man's Tony Gwynn. It would be nice if they could get him a nutritionist and chef and see if they could take 30-40 pounds off.

Suarez is a ticking time bomb of a bad contract. When he's hot, he hits HR by the bunches, but his peaks are going to be lower and his valleys longer moving forward. He'd drive us all crazy.

They have a track record of improving pitcher's performance when they come to Chicago. I expect that will be the case with Cabrera. I too thought Boyd's arm would fall off at some point, it never did. Could be randomness, could be a pattern. I expect the staff to be very good this year, barring injury, but not mystery injury which I'm hoping for.

Many of the AM stations were bought by religious groups and small operators doing niche programming like all Spanish (outside of big metropolitan areas). It’s very much alive, just for different demographics. I will go so far as to say that when the history of the latter part of the 20th century is written, if history as we know it still exists, AM radio will be featured prominently as one of the mechanisms used to fundamentally change our culture.

I think if they trade Tailon (which I wouldn't be for), it will be a straight dump and they will pay a portion of his salary for whatever they can get. There should be more than a few takers. But my hope is, if they get Gallen, they pull a Dodgers and everyone has a mystery injury at different times of the season so everyone is fresh come October. They are should walk through this division this year.

How long until Gallen falls into our laps? Who wants to take bets that if he does, he will be an All-Star?

I don't think it matters that they were "in" on anyone they didn't sign. It means nothing.
