  1. Charlie Marbles is going to be due for a surgery in the near to mid term.
  2. Speaking of Miller, is Wade offically done?
  3. It'd be nice if they didn't back into the playoffs. I'd love nothing more than to see a 8 of 11 winning streak. Go Woody!
  4. She's going to be on "Dancing with the Stars" How are your dancing skills, Swayze?
  5. One thing about Floyd. When he is hot, he is red soap-dropping hot. Stay hot.
  6. He replaced the latest drummer for Spinal Tap. Go Cliff, Get hot, baby!
  7. Go see a doctor because you are ill.
  8. Wholy Toledo Hamelton sucks. He's talking up Williams' performance tonight. If the Cubs hand anything in their sack they'd be ahead by 9 runs.
  9. Don't worry. I don't want him pitching for us in the regular season.
  10. Please don't screw this up Cubs. I hate listening to Milo Hamelton. He's a hack who isn't good enough to hold Harry's beer soaked BVDs.
  11. No more Trax please
  12. This is what KenTremendous wrote at the end, and he's right. Plaschke is an idiot and a horrible writer. Let me how that statistical value helps LaMacchia when he's scouting HS kids? I don't like most of Plaschke's work either, some of it's real good as far as how he paints a picture, I don't think this article was any good nor was how he treated DePodesta. Statistcis are numbers. Numbers give validity to judgment. Stopwatches can be used to measure things at high school games. Those things (numbers) can be put into data bases and used to aid judgment. I get what you are saying and am sympathetic to your positon. However, I think your personal experiences are clouding your judgment here.
  13. Such a great read: http://www.firejoemorgan.com/2006/08/best-ever.html What a [expletive] douche that writer is, trying to discredit the work LaMacchia does. LaMacchia has forgotten more baseball in a week than the writer, I, or anyone on this board will ever know about the game. Then maybe he should get out of the game if he keeps forgetting stuff. The douche writer is Plaschke for trying to mythologize somebody who supposedly saw something special in a player everybody already knew about. Right. I don't think KenTremendus was discrediting the work of Lamacchia. I think he was lampooning the terrible article. It's not like the guy found Roy Hobbs in a field in Nebraska. Etheer was a known quantity.
  14. Joe would have managed this team to a 60 win season, easy. I don't want him near a Cub dugout ever. Not even as a broadcaster.
  15. How can you say that when everyone who has seen him in CF this year describes his defense as well above average? 99% of people who see Jeter play SS say he's great defensively. True, but 1) most of those fans who have seen Jeter are casual fans, while most people who evaluate the minor leagues know much more what to look for. 2) The only evidence of Colvin in CF is late last year and this year, so until we get other evidence the only thing we have is what people say about his defense, and even the ones who were skeptical of his defense in the first place have been pleasantly surprised. They all say that he's not Pie level out there, but he's quite good. I saw Colvin play 4 times in CF this year. He didn't do anything to warrent an "above average" or "below average" when I saw him, although he was taken out in the 6th inning in one game. When I look at Colvin I see a poor man's Louis Gonzalez. He's rail thin with a little pop. I think the biggest factor in Colvin's development will be his discipline (just like that of Gonzo). If he can find a little patience I think he could turn into a petty decent outfielder.
  16. He did that for most of the year, and it didn't work out so well. Nothing seems to work, and it's frustrating as hell. You can't play chess with checkers.
  17. Personally I agree with you. But I don't think many college football fans would. It's the beauty of the system. There is no real national championship game. The winner of a bowl game is appointed National Champion by a bunch of people looking out for their own best interest. It's like Miss America without the question and answer sessions before hand. It is a terrible system but generates too much money for everyone involved.
  18. Maybe Riccardi learned from DePo to fear the media...MacDonald should send a check to Plaschke. Ricciardi and Depooooo wouldnt know a prospect if it were Babe Ruth in front of them. DePo gets no credit for Kemp, Loney, and Martin? . Not at all period, they were all signed and drafted by Logan White who should be getting some considerations for a Gm, all three of these guys were drafted and signed before Mr Personality came to the Dodgers and White is still with the Dodgers.Tell the truth, did DePo sleep with your wife?
  19. Hill has allowed the same amount of HR's as Lilly, even though Lilly has pitched 14 2/3 innings more. So Hill has given up a greater HR/9 than Lilly, not less. Their K/BB ratio is close, but Lilly's is a little better (3.06 for Lilly to 2.88 for Hill). Lilly's WHIP is better-1.150 to 1.219. They've been close this year, but Lilly has been slightly better in every phase of the game besides straight K rate. I must have transposed the numbers. Ok, you've convined me. I'll go with Lilly. If I knew I was going to get the "good Z", the choice would be easy, but he's been about as predictible as Cybil.
  20. Call me crazy but I would probably start Hill. Hill as good a k/BB ratio as Lilly, but less HRs. He got better everything over Z. Yep, I'd send in one pitch Rich.
  21. that's why soto should've been the catcher in july... but i digress I'd of done it on June 21.
  22. Ditto. I am astounded by the knowledge displayed in this forum. I learn something new every day.
  23. Off teach a class: Topic: Behavioral Sleuthing, understand the function of inappropriate behavior. Should be soap dropping fun for my students. Don't screw this up Cubs.
