  1. I'd rather not give up Gallagher at all, but Roberts does have pretty high value. Actually, I'd prefer if they didn't try and trade with Baltimore ever. :tease:
  2. All users can currently use that...Premium or non-Premium. It's in the user control panel. On the left side go to "friends and foes". Anyone listed as a "foe" will be ignored. Thanks. I liked the button that we could press at the bottom of the post. I will miss that.
  3. Tim, Will we be able to use the ignore option in the future?
  4. Cubs White Sox Red Sox Yankees Mets Angles A's Dodgers Padres Pirates Astros Cardinals Braves Phillies Marlins Blue Jays Tigers Twins Diamondbacks Brewers Rockies Giants Reds Indians Orioles (Spring Training) --- Haven't seen Rays Nationals/Expos Royals Rangers (Edit)
  5. Tim, Any word on when you/mods will get premium up and running?
  6. As logically flawed and baseball foolish this statement may be, I can see Hendry and Lou thinking the exact thing.
  7. When you become a mod you can do that all by yourself. Kick a guy while he's down why don't you? :( What? My guy told me you were in and they were just waiting to file the paperwork. My source told me they didn't want to do it while Meph was making his predictions on predictions because they didn't want to still his thunder. They didn't want to steal it too. :D You cannot steal from Meph you can only quiet him.

  10. Yes. He's old and cannot play CF. I don't understand people's interest in Lofton. 2003 was five years ago.
  11. I called this weeks ago. kind of. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46279
  12. That's a nice article. I'm pulling for him.
  13. What's so spectacular about Petco Park exactly? I understand it is a big major league park. So how does that effect Greene's OBP exactly? One can argue that it helps it, and one can argue it hurts it. Obviously his HR's will be effected. So he'll probably hit more somewhere else, but a lot of you guys believe Figgins had a fluke year, so why couldn't Greene have had a fluke year in HR's? He only had 15 HR's each of the 3 years before last years 27. Since the park is big I think there would be more open grass for base hits to land, therefore his average should go up. And OBP wouldnt be any different than batting average in a different park because walks have nothing to do with the size of the park. Either you are not reading or are intentionally obtuse. The post to which you are referring is talking about the differences in SLG. Theriot>/ = Greene OBP Green>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Theriot SLG Advantage Greene I read it very well thank you. I bolded the portions for you if you want to go back and read it. He says Greene's OBP would be between .320-.340 if he wasnt in Petco, why would it go up so much not being in Petco? And then he says it again with reference to the park and OBP. So I was reading it. B/c HRs count in OBP. Greene's BABIP might suffer some (which I kind of doubt) but HRs aren't balls in play.

  15. I wouldn't fear too much. Pierre makes too much money and even Hendry knows Slappy sucks after watching him for a year.
  16. Tampering is limited to either 1) talking in public about another teams players, or 2) talking to another teams player directly and possibly promising them something. Hendry can call MacPhail all he wants and discuss any player he wants to. Hendry can even call the press and say that he's interested in such and such a player, if it's off the record. What he cannot do is have it on the record that it came from Hendry. Hendry cannot come out and say that he's interested in trading for Roberts. That's why whenever anybody asks him about Roberts in public situations, Hendry says that he cannot talk about players from other teams. I don't think so. They (GMs) do it all the time.
  17. I was just about to post this thought. It's tampering. This is now, at least, the second time this offseason that Towers has openly mentioned by name specific players from another team. He's not suppose to do that... Explain how it is tampering? Here's an old quote from the commissioner. Tampering rules are private, so it's hard to figure out what exactly is over the line. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1838447 Many people feel that Hank Steinbrenner has been tampering in the Santana trade talks for doing many of the same types of quotes that Towers is doing, and the Twins are not happy about it. Here's a blog from a writer from the Minnesota StarTribune on that: http://nc.startribune.com/blogs/neal/?p=282 There is a world of difference between Hank Steinbrenner's comments and Kevin Tower's comments. If a GM expresses public interest in a player involved in a possible trade how is that tampering. Stienbrenner's comments had to do with a third team (Boston).

  19. Sounds like they are more interested in Murton than Nady Forgive me, but I thought general managers were precluded from talking about players on other teams in public. If a GM does speak of another team's player(s), he is violating the tampering rules of baseball. Kevin Towers is a smart GM, so I'm guessing whoever got this information about his interest in Nady or Murton violated some kind of agreement because Towers probably gave the reporter this information "on background only" or "not for attribution." Therefore, I doubt this source learns anything anytime soon from Towers. I don't think that this is true. I think it only applies to free agents to-be during the exclusive signing period. I can't see anyway that expressing interest in a ballplayer is tampering. I do think that it is not very smart.
  20. No, it is pretty much a BS cop out. I love South Park as much as the next cynical slacker, but that reference is apropos of nothing. It is well within someone's right not to vote but reducing the contest to a douche vs. crap makes the decision not to vote one of self-induced ignorance. I find it almost impossible to believe that someone who made him or her self aware of the political stance of the candidates running for any office would reduce a choice for that office to such terrible and disgusting metaphor. It's just an excuse to be willfully uninformed. Even Dave Chappelle was at the debate in SC, and I can't think of a better example of a cynical slacker.
  21. I'll be excited to see them when they come to Jackson. But right now I'm excited to watch the caribbean playoffs in spanish and I don't understand spanish.
  22. If one goes to Kansas and looks out on the open plane it is not hard to believe that the earth is flat. Unfortunately the evidence suggests that the earth is indeed not flat.
