  1. When OSU wanted to close the horseshoe when I was there they raised the money from boosters in like two hours.
  2. Ohio State, Michigan, USC, UCLA, I would imagine have people who could put any SEC school to shame. Probabily many others too. Again, this really isn’t complicated: BOOSTERS are different than Alumni. You’re absolutely tripping if you think UCLA gets more money from athletic boosters than Texas A&M. I’d bet my life that Texas and TAMU are probably 1 and 2 from booster donations. You have any idea how many rednecks are billionaires or have hundreds of millions of dollars in Texas due to oil money? I don’t doubt Michigan and Ohio State can hang with the Texas schools as far as booster contributions, but you can chunk UCLA and “many others” out of this conversation. It’s almost certainly USC, Texas, TAMU, Michigan, and OSU in some order Phill Knight (Nike) is probably worth more and has spent more on Oregon that all Texas AM boosters put together. T Boon Pickens at OK State as well.
  3. I highly doubt that. What makes you so highly skeptical? If they don’t have the richest they are right up there with whichever school does. Texas and USC are the only other two who come immediately to mind. And remember, I said richest boosters, not richest alumni. There are plenty of Ivy League schools that have richer alumni bases, but we’re talking about people who donate millions to the athletics departments of their schools. Ohio State, Michigan, USC, UCLA, I would imagine have people who could put any SEC school to shame. Probabily many others too.
  4. The only reason Alabama didn't do it is that they couldn't do it by Alabama law. This February Alabama and Auburn got together with the legislature and repealed the law. I don't know if there is a level of money in Alabama to support an arms race of millions of dollars with the likes of USC and other schools that want to do it. Saban is lamenting that his time is neigh. Imagine if the Ivy League Schools wanted to compete. Harvard and Yale are sitting on a pile of money the size of the GDP of a midsize country and Stanford isn't far behind.
  5. In Cubs farms past, prospect pitchers never got pulled from the rotation unless due to injury. I kinda like the developmental concept that if something isn't right, that you try to remediate ASAP. Palencia walked 14 guys in his first 16 innings; maybe getting him away from games and trying to ID and remediate why he's missing so badly so often was exactly what he needed? Jensen's awful, 14BB/16IP, and his habitually bad HR-factory is even worse? Try to remediate ASAP, try to fix him. At least try, I'm good with at least trying. Probably Jensen just doesn't have it in him to consistently throw strikes, much less do so with command. And probably Palencia had a fluke walk-free game, but he probably won't be able to locate with consistency over a larger sample size, I get that. But I like trying to develop and remediate right away. From a totally different perspective related to behavior therapy, research shows the best error correction is immediate, direct, quick, and ends with the learner making the correct response. Sometimes that means teaching in isolation. If the Cubs are doing that with pitchers (and I hope hitters, e.g., Davis is at the Arizona complex), they may be on to something.
  6. Sounds like Davis might not get any MLB at-bats until September
  7. Do you mind translating what you wrote about Palencia?
  8. Why does Simmons squat when he takes a pitch?
  9. My feed inexplicably switched
  10. Unfortunately, I don't have this option. Who are these guys? They're brutal. I’m watch on Apple TV. Go to the gear setting and then you can change the feed. Still seems to be the Pirates Tv broadcast
  11. Changing audio made my night! Thanks
  12. My app thing says 76 thousand watching. Is that low?
  13. Announcers are awful
  14. Didn’t the Cubs have a high signing bonus catcher from the DR who came to the states last year out of shape? I’m I thinking about someone else? Is he still with the organization?
  15. Lol, at least we don’t root for the Pirates
  16. Deep fly ball... This one's got a chance... Home run number 100 and a grand slam for Contreras!
