  1. Good work. Not much you can do about the HR, good hitting.
  2. Cubs are going to win this win. Wicks has pitched into some tough luck this year and the defense has not supported him well. This will change today.
  3. Open pool of starter fluid, just add match or Jesus on a stick? Stay tuned Cubs fans.
  4. As someone else said, the biggest problem with the bullpen is overuse. A lot gets solved when SP can go 6 or 7 innings.
  5. Not going to comment on all of it, except for #1 - It's not our responsibility to build a pen for the Cubs. Our (collective) bitching about the pen in no way obligates anyone to "have a better idea". Jed's MO is to throw bodies at it and figure it out during the season through attrition. It's not a strategic decision, as much as it is a tactical one. Tactics without strategy are never a good thing. However, the volatile nature of bullpen pitchers is a tough problem to solve. The Brewers seem to have figured that out, but it may be only tangentially related to the manger the Cubs hired.
  6. With Kyle it's always a command issue. I thought his first couple of starts were results bad, but process good. His last couple of starts have been results and process bad. I don't know that it is fixable.
  7. Yes, I appreciate that he is a strike thrower. Even the walk, ball four was right there. But it's not like he's throwing center cut either. He hits his spots and his slider is a devastating swing and miss pitch.
  8. Reliever comes in and can’t get anyone out. The Biscuits are the top offensive team in the young season. Shows how good Horton pitched.
  9. Horton breezed through 4 innings. One hit that could have been an error and a walk. Hist stuff was overwhelming hitters. Josh Rivera had a dong. Shaw has an RBI single and a walk. Aliendo threw out a steal attempt. Smokies up 2-0.
  10. Michigan gets hit with some stiff penalties and Harbaugh makes another fortune in the NFL.
  11. Losing Seiya's production is going to hurt a bit unless Beli, et al. pick it up, but this is a solid start of the season with a tough overall schedule.
  12. If they can play .500 against playoff caliber teams and beat up the also-rans like they have done, they will be in a great spot at the end of the season. Yes, I worry about the pen and they need some SLG off the bench, but they are a solid overall team.
  13. MB looks to have a rough year. It's too bad MLB has made the decisions they have regarding the minors.
  14. Yes, they are banking some good wins early in the season. To play this well against the competition they've faced is great. Dodgers (H) Rangers (A) D-Backs (A) Padres (A) ------ Mariners (A) Rockies (H) That's a tough schedule for any team.
  15. "43, sounds like a good bet to make some money," said the degenerate gamble.
  16. The Cardinals are still the only team in the division with a losing record.
  17. What a walk through nightmare memory lane. That 2003-2004 team was as good or better than the 2015-2017 Cubs team.
  18. I hate these late start times, but I'm glad they won. It was a happy shower this morning.
  19. I think a lot of this is noise that is generated because the sports TV people run out of stuff to talk about.
