  1. Don't even have 10 yet. We have 2.
  2. The worst part is, not too much of that is completely out of the realm of possibility. Some of it is, but most of it is plausible. And that kills me, because it still won't happen.
  3. I think we pretty much knew that about Pie, but I like the evidence here. No walks, somewhat controlling his strikeouts, but he can hit and hit for power, along with steal a base.
  4. I've been right a little too often this offseason. Let's hope that evens out. Well then predict we're going to get Manny or something. Okay, I predict the Cubs will send Walker, Harvey, and Murton for Manny and cash. That still leaves us without a right fielder. A smaller trade or FA signing like Encarnacion or Jay Payton would follow. Okay, now the Prediction is complete. Let it be so :D

  6. Plenty of chance. You definitely do not know that the Cubs will keep Hendry if next season is another disappointment. Zero chance. It's not a zero chance, and you know it. You may think there's LITTLE chance, and you might be right about that, but ZERO chance is an absolute statement that is clearly and factually not true because nobody can say with certainty what will happen after next season. When you make such a clearly incorrect statement, and refuse to back off it when called on it, you're likely to be criticized, and rightfully so. I agree. It is not inconcievable, although a long shot, that Kerry Wood could finally find "it", and that Mark Prior could put together a full 35 starts in 2003 form, and that Greg Maddux could rebound, and coupled with Z that alone could drive us to the playoffs. He ain't losing his job then, even if he had nothing to do with getting to the playoffs.
  7. I didn't take this as backpedaling. If you read what he is saying, he is demanding a trade. He is simply clarifying under what conditions he is demanding it. He wants the O's to get pitching and otherwise improve the team or he wants out. Thats still a trade demand. It just means that we will have to wait to see if the O's can acquire some pitching before we can expect any movement of Tejada. The only way, at this point, the Orioles will get pitching is if they sign Kevin Millwood...or trade Tejada.
  8. I agree with that point, BUT look at the state that leaves Houston's pen in. They have nobody.
  9. It's snowing already and they expect about an inch of accumulation. The wind is also swirling. perfect football weather! Good times. Thank God. Real football is not played in a dome or in Florida, it's played in Pittsburgh or Chicago or Green Bay in December.
  10. Would they really trust Dan Wheeler or Chad Qualls to close? Who else do they have to close?
  11. Are you kidding me? Erstand can't hold Lee's jock. Since 2001 his highest OPS has been .746, and only one other time has it been above .700. Seriously. EDIT Never mind, I thought you were comparing position by position, not lineup slot by lineup slot.
  12. They are not any closer to competing in that div. than the Fish are. Hill, Williams, Cedeno and a Single A prospect for Miggy and a bit of cash, please. There will plenty of teams that would be willing to offer more. Everyone needs starting pitching. Not everyone needs a shortstop. Which teams will offer more?
  13. Remember when it was all but done that Milton was going to the A's for Zito? Let's chill out here.
  14. Walker bats lefty and is a better bat even then...that's two strikes against Renteria. But he does catch the ball.
  15. I want this to not be true, so...do we have confirmation?
  16. Edwin Jackson has basically lost all of his prospect status, for whatever reason. That might not be enough right there. You apparently don't know who Joel Guzman is. Guzman is good, but he's blocked at third by Eric Chavez for the A's, and Milton Bradley is a non-tender. Will he switch positions?

  18. Wow, I forgot how bad that 02 line-up was. My question is, how on earth did Bellhorn play shortstop? He played 2nd for most of 2002.
  19. http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07280SLN2002.htm To be fair to Alf, Flash had a hand in this particular implosion.
  20. My friend put his fist through a support pillar in his basement, breaking two of his fingers. This is when the Cardinals came back from like 5 runs or something in the ESPN Sunday Night game, Renteria hit a walk-off jack to win it. Instead of hitting things, I just drank. I remember that game, it was in 2002. That may have been an Alfonseca special.
  21. Okay, so then does Murton play left or does Dunn? Can either of them handle right? Is Murton pushed to center?
  22. Is this really enough alone to be called "adressing the bullpen"?
  23. Noteworthy Match-ups (NL Central Big Lefties) Vs. Scott Eyre (LHP) Edmonds: 0 for 1 Adam Dunn: 0 for 4 Ken Griffey: 1 for 3 Lyle Overbay: 0 for 1 Any other lefties you want me to look up? How has Lance Jerkman fared as a righty?
