This is a good point, but Lou has one thing Dusty will never have - a good philosophy. An emphasis on patience has turned this offense into what it is today - despite his oftentimes mind-boggling ingame moves. Dusty also had one thing Lou will never have: a player with a .550 OBP. -
Geovany Soto probably decreed that the Cubs batting average was to be 6. And it was so.

Why? THey have been very good besides playing us. They're 6 under against us but 5 over against everyone else. They're a .500 team. Don't feel bad.

I can already see the Cardinals trading some of their pitchers whose value is currently inflated (Todd Wellemeyer anyone?) to get Holliday, sign him to a long term deal, and have him torment us for the next 8 years.

I have no idea why Edmonds would want to play here. Between the problems there have been between him and Z and the hell the fans are sure to give him if he signs... 1. Winning cures all wounds. 2. The players on the Cubs team that finally does the unthinkable will be elevated at least to the level of the 85 Bears and probably higher given the stakes. This is desirable. 3 If I could get a 1 million salary to be a platoon player on this team, one that seems to be going places, I would certainly take it But in the larger picture I agree. I'm going to have a hell of a time rooting for Jim Edmonds playing center for the Cubs.
