  1. I just literally laughed out loud in class. That could only have happened on a Dusty Baker team.
  2. That was mostly after both 2 pitch outs leading off the inning
  3. Yeah, and at the same time he should take a baseball bat to the junk of the SI curse.
  4. I went to that game, and I get the same feeling. RJ also threw his perfect game that night.
  5. +1 Ronny gets an out there. Or throws the ball into sections 229.
  6. It'll go along side my Kerry Wood\Mark Prior SI issue. The 2004 "this is the year" cover? Burn it. And burn this one, too. No. The Wood/Prior issue was from maybe June 2003. The 2004 cover was the Opening day issue and only had Wood I believe. Suffice to say, both are still somewhere in my house.
  7. Given the importance of the moment, that catch was absolutely ridiculous. I'm currently a sophomore at school, having lived with the same roommate for 2 years. He's from Queens, 1 stop fro Flushing, and has a poster of Endy mid-catch. Watching a clip of that catch leads to the conclusion that the only thing comparable is Kerry Wood's homer in game 7 of the '03 LCS...I've never heard a louder sound in person. But Endy was just off the charts amazing with that snow-cone.
  8. Sucks for Theriot, he had one of his 6 annual homers taken away by the wind.
  9. Not like that patetic offense that is in the top 3 in baseball in runs scored and OBP to this point? I'm talking about the traditional Cubs line-up, Dusty Baker style. This is truly bizarro world.
  10. Offense is looking good at least. It looks like a real offense.
  11. Sammy wasn't on the team in 05. That was in 04 and it was with the bases loaded that preserved a 1-0 lead. Fun fact: The only run scored in that game came when Carlos Zambrano drew a bases-loaded walk in the 5th inning. This is a hilarious half-inning game log : How far we've come from Corey Patterson, leading off in center field.
  12. Hence why I hope Hendry realizes this and gets a top of the rotation starter in July Because those grow on trees?
  13. We draw pretty well in Arizona too, obviously.
  14. Um, so we just burned Ward, have used Fontenot, have The Riot with back spasms, so who hits for Howry? Or does he get to bat?
  15. Zambrano - Marmol - Wood, a winning combination.
  16. Yeah I have to say I'm impressed by the Mets and Phillies...they both have multiple players whose at bats I fear on both teams.
  17. Me too, except I'm 6-9 (Eastern). Probably get back around 9:30 and start it from the top with my DVR. I don't know how I lived before HD and DVR...on second thought maybe I didn't know what living was then? I have class that starts at 7 here on the east coast, but it's not a problem. I have MLB.tv and my computer in class, so that's basically what I plan on doing for those 2 hours.
  18. Aren't relievers supposed to get worse when they become starters? Where was this Dempster either of the past two years?
  19. Z doesn't have his best stuff tonight. Not all that much control, not so much velocity, and his movement is decent but erratic.
  20. Johnson is a platoon player. Look at his L/R splits. One thing this injury should NOT do is parlay a platoon player into an everyday spot. I think the real reason why Murton isn't called up is because he has very similar splits as Reed. Which begs the question, why did we sign Reed when we already have Murton? For the record...Murton and Johnson's career splits: Murton vs. RHP: .280/.346/.425/.771 Murton vs. LHP: .326/.399/.510/.909 Johnson vs. RHP: .267/.328/.382/.710 Johnson vs. LHP: .309/.373/.461/.834 So Murton is obviously the better player. Why don't we just trade for Frank Thomas and play him in left? He has better r/l splits than both of those guys, and since that's apparently all that matters, he'd be an all-star left fielder.
  21. Objectively the two arguments in this thread are worthwhile debates. Subjectively, they most certainly are not. I'll take Podsendnik and the WS ring over Lee or Pierre.
  22. That Soto guy at catcher has a chance to be pretty good methinks. On the Mark Grace level perhaps. Baseball Prospectus compared him to Jorge Posada. That would be quite a player to develop.
  23. Yeah, but didn't they want Aramis? I vaguely remember laughing about that.
