  1. Steve Traschsel 2: Reliever edition
  2. So trading for Jason Kendall instead of promoting Soto wasn't a mistake? Or are you chalking that up to laying the groundwork for the Harden trade? Who knows, it might have been best for Soto's development. Soto got the time to consolidate his gains and built confidence while also starting in the playoffs for the Cubs, or so the argument might go.
  3. I hope you aren't serious. Was 6 innings at St. Louis not enough or something?
  4. I've been wanting him for years now. If we acquire him the offense would be incredible! That's only until one of the drunk bleacher bumbs pisses him off. Also which position is he playing for us, center over Edmonds?
  5. I don't know. It may rival aganist Aramis/Lofton deal... How are we speaking? We may have gotten more talent in the Aramis Lofton deal, but turning Todd Hundley into Grudzielanek (I can still spell it!) and Karros was like turning water into wine.
  6. pretty basic info; probably more analysis tomorrow. Bold prediction: Christina Kahrl will hate the deal for both teams. why do you say that? she liked the sabathia deal on both sides. She generally is mildly disapproving of the Cubs and Hendry, viewing them as having an idea of what they want to do but little idea how to do it.
  7. If true, Hendry needs to get Burnett or Harden. If indeed true, than the Cubs "lukewarm interests" in AJ Burnett, is no longer lukewarm. I hate being a fan of a team that is reactive, instead of proactive, but if the Cubs could land Burnett or Harden, then I won't mind. Either way the Brewers get the better player, so it is bad news.
  8. This game is an interesting study in Jim Hendry's talent evaluation skills.
  9. We'll have some very important pieces back, so I don't see that happening. And the Cards have no one with stuff in the same realm as Cain's. Regardless of whom we were facing tonight, we played poorly. Too many strikeouts looking (in fairness, a big zone, but you must adjust), that steal attempt in the first should have drawn no throw from Soto but instead the Giants scored a run, no clutch hits, etc... Let's face it, that was as frustrating a game as I've seen in a little while and I'm pissed.
  10. If we play like that this weekend in St. Louis we are in trouble.
  11. That game was dumb on so many levels. Ugh.
  12. Why did the Fates start hating us again?
  13. Let's just watch ourselves get beat. Let's not bother to actually swing the bat.
  14. Marshall is getting another start, this Saturday or Sunday says Lou on WGN.
  15. Losing two of three at home to Andy MacPhail's Orioles deserves the name Cobs in the thread title.
  16. They really, really need a minimum bat thickness that is significantly bigger than it is now. Or the end of Maple bats.
  17. I can see Pie/other people for Harang/token B level prospect becoming Brock/Broglio pt. 2
  18. Not sure if this is sarcasm.... It's not. I don't trust Howry at all. It's a tie game now, we need to lock them down here. Did you miss last night's game? I think he was just rusty and was therefore wild. Some people said he was wild warming up too. RUSTY? Like he hasn't had enough work? Or had 4 days off. That's so many days off...as many as a normal starting pitcher! They have side sessions, but thanks for playing. Newsflash, so do relievers if they haven't worked in a while.

  21. Let's bring in Marmol because we'd rather give up baserunners on HBP than singles to right.
