  1. Lee sees 0 strikes in 3 pitches and still strikes out.
  2. They are winning the World Series this year. It's inevitable. Seriously, Skip Mantle and Cy Wellemeyer will lead them to victory.
  3. Houston is up 1 in the 8th and besides who cares about Houston? Cardinals are tied in the 6th Brewers will probably win, but its the 6th inning. 1. So? I still don't like Houston. 2. Dude, its the Royals. 3. Can't be letting the Crew think they're back in it. And it's still annoying.
  4. I don't know, it's almost refreshing to know the Cubs are still the Cubs. Maybe not.
  5. Theriot gets a taste of his own medicine there.
  6. This. He's been great, and if your expectations were superstar level, then you set the bar too high from the start. Exactly. His power numbers will get better. Heck, they already have. He hit a HR on opening day, and didn't hit another til May 10th. He hit 3 in a span of 12 games after that. For comparison's sake, since May 30th, Fukudome has hit 3 HRs. That's more than anyone else on the roster outside of Mark Derosa, who has 4. Ramirez has 0. Lee has 1. Pointing that out not to say he will be one of the team's best power hitters from here on out, but to point out that his power will increase as he goes around the league a 2nd and 3rd time. Kosuke's ISOP is still way below where it probably should and will be, but he's not Ryan Theriot out there. More important than his power increase in his second year is that Matsui sustained his improvement over the next three years. We have him under contract for three more years and he should be better in the power department over that time but the whole contract was only 48 mil anyway which is a relative bargain for a gold glove-type outfielder who could hit .315/.425/.490 at this point.
  7. Anyone think we can put together a package for Ichiro?
  8. NO WALKS for Dempster to go with 11 strikeouts. Impressive.
  9. He has no grit. Maybe he thought that since he is playing left field he had to not be gritty.
  10. Fate may just have it in for the Cardinals this year.
  11. I was there, sitting about 10 rows off the foul pole in left...my most memorable regular season game. Karros was and is my hero.
  12. Another reason that Willie Randolph should be fired: He lets the quite fragile Pedro Martinez throw 109 pitches in his first start off the DL after the Mets were up 9-1 after 4.5 innings.
  13. Hahahahhaha, you actually think that anyone in the organization actually looks at splits. Seeing as though Hoff is heading to AAA as we speak, I would bet that we won't see him in RF tonight. ](*,) Maybe Lou has something especially crafty up his sleeve. Or not.
  14. I just wanted to post this quote from Henry Blanco on Zambrano last night: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20080602&content_id=2825700&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc At Least someone understands the concept of overwork on the Cubs
  15. Mark today down as the day ESPN got something right. There's no way he could have turned two on that ball. That is absolutely false. He didn't have to move that far right as I remember and furthermore, it was the catcher (Pudge) on first and a guy who has never been that quick (Miguel Cabrera) at the plate. We were competent enough to turn a double play on those two guys.
  16. This is why we screwed Michael Barrett's career by trading him to SD. You realize, since the trade, Barrett has a grand total of 0 homers?
  17. Maybe Lou is trying to quit smoking by feeding his Marmol addiction. You use him, and it feels really good. The more you use him, however, the less good it feels. Each time you use him is bad, and using him too much can lead to disaster.
  18. Michael Barrett stranded at second after a leadoff double. I thought it was 2006 again, but then I snapped back to reality.
