i dunno how productive he is... if his power is really gone, and that .326 BABIP came back to normal, he'd be a .260/.310/.380. That's okay if you've got the red sox lineup around him, but clearly we don't have that.

What's the pitt/philly dynamic like? Of all the philly/south jersey people I know, I never hear much of anything about any of the pitt teams. They hate the mets and braves, cowboys, giants and redskins, and the devils and rangers. But is there much animosity with any pittsburgh teams? actually right here in state college is probably where you'll see the biggest "rivalry" between philly and pittsburgh, because you have a lot of transplanted fans of both cities' teams. I never cared about the Steelers til I got here, but one day I was at the bar watching the Eagles play the Jets, and Steelers fans were filtering in for their 4:00 game. The Eagles game was close the Steelers fans were passionately rooting for the Jets, or more specifically, against the Eagles. So I started to dislike the Steelers after that. Otherwise, Philly people don't really care about Pittsburgh. The Flyers and Pens are rivals b/c they're in the same division. I think if you asked a real Flyers fan which teams he hates the most, he'd say Devils and Rangers most and then the Penguins. I get the impression that most Pens fans consider the Flyers to be their biggest rival, though.

we beat the pens last night, which might not sound impressive, but we went 0-8 against them last year... so i'm happy. Plus it was in the igloo (i'm going to a flyers-pens game there in february; should have my new mike richards sweater by then!)

I would do that in a heart beat. What is the deal with all of you jumping at the chance to give away Hill, Marmol, and Gallagher? Why in the hell would you give away our best young pitching? [-X probably because people are trying to make realistic trade proposals, rather than throwing a bunch of trash we don't want and pretending it would be enough to get a very good player in return

given this team's salary structure, giving up hill in a trade for a not-cheap outfielder is not an option

Hawai'i isn't LSU. LSU likely beats Hawai'i by 20. You can't convince me Vance. Hawai'i is undefeated. LSU is not. Are you really suggesting that Hawai'i is anywhere near the team LSU is? Alabama would crush Hawai'i; Flordia would demolish them; Kentucky likely beats them by two scores; Auburn would be a 13 point favorite against them; hell, even Mississippi State might beat them. Viginia Tech would as well. If Hawai'i played LSU's schedule this year, they would have four losses already, and maybe have a losing record. all of which is based on ... ... ... Talent? At least as it pertains to the last point. yeah and based on talent, boise state got blown out in the fiesta bowl by oklahoma

in games where i'm neutral, i generally root for an evenly-officiated game, not for one game to consistently get the shaft.

Seriously, how do you go from 14-2 or whatever they were last year to about to be 4-4 fire very good coach, hire very bad coach. p.s. - the packers aren't that good. I love it. Let everyone keep on hating. The reality is that at the worst, we're the 2nd best team in the NFC. that's true.... still, they're not that good. Not 7-1 good.
