i swear i had 270 points yesterday with no starts left, now i have 221 with only 6 starts made, and cj wilson in my lineup (which he wasn't supposed to be - i had put him on the bench). not sure what the deal is with that. did it take away all my points because i added my minor league pitcher (who i just drafted) but didn't put him in the minor leagues quickly enough?

south bend won 2-1 on a cael brockmeyer walk-off. good way to start the new affiliation! brockmeyer also had 2 doubles, jeffrey baez homered and jake stinnett threw 5 solid innings.
the marlins had their first ever rain delay in their new ballpark because they're too cheap to pay a consultant meteorologist (as most MLB teams would do). instead they have three executives with weather apps on their smart phones. http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/post/_/id/12631427/miami-marlins-experience-opening-day-rain-delay-having-retractable-roof
I would just like to say that reading articles like this still makes me so happy, because I feel like this kind of [expletive] never would have happened under Hendry and friends. So much better to be out in front of the game than pulling a Phillies by being 5 years behind it.
Szczur was BA's #64 prospect in '12 after a 10 HR season, but has hit just 8 in the three seasons since the (faint?) hope is basically that his swing was badly broken before and he's discovered something mechanically that works much better for him the good news with szczur is that he's a good baserunner and can play above-average defense in CF and certainly in the corner OF spots, so if he can hit the occasional home run and show a decent hit tool, he'd be a really solid reserve outfielder with the outside chance at being more than that.
keep the old scoreboard, but when someone hits a home run, have a giant sculpture pop up behind it with jumping fish and flamingos and palm trees and thousands of lights.
there is actually something about cricket that appeals to the baseball fan in me - the long history, the meticulous record-keeping and comparisons with players of the past, bowlers using different tactics and captains setting the field in certain ways to attack various bowlers. it can also be a fun day out; you don't have to pay that much attention so you're just getting drunk and socializing in the sun. that being said, test matches (played for 5 days, but still often end in no decision) are [expletive] boring. some of the world cup matches were pretty exciting though.
