  1. Penn St. should be alright O'Neil can mtch up with anyone not named Putnam on Friday nights, they don't have the offenses of Mich. and Minn. i was actually kidding, but apparently penn st is not supposed to be as horrible as they usually are still, i think they should let the state college spikes play in place of penn st, just to make things more fair.
  2. my understanding of the biggest differences between neo-cons and classical conservatives are three major things: (a) size of government - neo-cons place much less importance on restricting the size of the federal government than do classical conservatives. (b) morals/religion - more libertarian-type conservatives think that the government should generally stay out of the field of morals and religion; neo-cons believe in stuff like faith-based initiatives and stricter policies/enforcement by the FCC © U.S. involvement in foreign affairs - a lot of conservatives think the U.S. should generally stay out of foreign entanglements unless it is absolutely necessary; neo-cons believe in the advancement of democracy and the expansion of U.S. influence on world affairs.
  3. i don't like sweeney all that much - looks best-suited to be a 4th outfielder to me. gio gonzalez should be pretty good, and de los santos had great peripherals this year, but is young. if you're going to trade some top-level minor league talent, you'd better be getting something good back in return, and nick swisher is (despite what most sox fans think) pretty darn good. i don't have a problem with this trade from the sox' perspective.
  4. i'm guessing that penn state barely missed the cut
  5. if the blackhawks are gonna raid the cubs execs, the least they could do is also take jim hendry too
  6. yucky yeah i've already come to terms with the fact that pie will end up being the next in a long line of cub position prospects-turned-colossal disappointment
  7. i'm sure he does. while he's at it, maybe he can see if bill belichick would like to be his linebackers coach or maybe coach up the special teams.
  8. chow? he had probably the premier o.c. job in college football and left for the nfl. now he's going to leave the nfl for ucla? i think you have spent too much time at the "michigan/notre dame school for unrealistic expectations in coaching hires" I doubt he comes either...he'd probably have to take a $500,000 paycut (and there are a whole host of other reasons I don't see him coming). But they have been in discussion. i thought they were in discussion about the h.c. job, and chow withdrew his name from that. if that's the case, then there's no logical reason that he'd have any interest in the o.c. job at ucla.
  9. Three overvalued (by Cub fans) garbage pieces for a bad player? Well, I don't know what assurances we have of Roberts continuing to produce post Mitchell report (other than there's no reliable test for HGH), but he's significantly better than Pierre. However, guys like Eric Patterson and Jake Fox do appear to fit into the overvalued garbage prospects criteria ... and likely Gallagher as well. i'm sure some people said that about the guys they gave up in the pierre deal as well
  10. i'm picking pittsburgh just because everyone is picking jacksonville.
  11. chow? he had probably the premier o.c. job in college football and left for the nfl. now he's going to leave the nfl for ucla? i think you have spent too much time at the "michigan/notre dame school for unrealistic expectations in coaching hires"
  12. ever consider it's the only song they know? Like the USC band? Michigan Band, Notre Dame Band..... usc band never shuts up either, but at least they know two songs - one for offense, one for defense. Plus I think the songs themselves are somewhat enjoyable - though I could see someone from UCLA disagreeing. I dont think the michigan or notre dame bands are that bad. As far as bands who don't shut up - I'd say Florida St, Ohio St and Oklahoma are the worst. I think Ohio St knows a couple of songs, but F$U and OU are the worst because they just play the same thing over and over.
  13. i'll probably sleep through all the games; after all, it's a battle for second place and probably none of those teams will even make the conference semis.
  14. congratulations oklahoma band, i've now left the room and gone into my bedroom because i'm so sick of hearing you a-holes play the same song every five seconds (my roommate is watching the game, didn't feel like telling him to watch the game on mute)
  15. just gave up 14 consecutive points??? let's play the fight song!!!
  16. firebobstoops.com
  17. i like how the announcer is impressed that noel devine has his own wikipedia page... hate to break it to you pal, most college football stars have their own wikipedia page.
  18. nice coaching poops, lol
  19. well i was already sick of hearing this [expletive] show tune fight song in the first quarter... now i'm on the verge of killing someone
  20. watching oklahoma choke against inferior teams is becoming a tradition in the bowl season
  21. that's not it at all. i don't hate everyone except the cubs - i hate the cardinals, astros and yankees. in hockey i hate the rangers and devils. pro football i hate the cowboys and giants. ohio st and michigan are usually the best teams in the big ten, that's why i hate them and always root against them.
  22. michigan didn't give the blueprint - i think everyone already knew the blueprint, and michigan was about the last team to get their hands on it.
  23. Why would you root against your teams conference doing well in bowl games? because i hate michigan and ohio state. i'm a penn state fan, not a big ten fan. i won't cheer for ohio state ever (except the year they played Miami for the NC) but I definitely cheered for Michigan against Meph....er.....Florida i will never, ever root for michigan or ohio state, unless them winning would significantly benefit penn state.
  24. the next time the ou band plays that obnoxious fight song after their offense gives up a sack or their defense gives up a first down, i say each member of the band should have his or her instrument shoved up his or her rear.
  25. Why would you root against your teams conference doing well in bowl games? because i hate michigan and ohio state. i'm a penn state fan, not a big ten fan.
