  1. this ballpark probably takes away more doubles to left than it does giving cheap homers to left.
  2. swung at ball four twice and grounded into a double play with a great hitter coming up. not good.
  3. i still have no idea why anyone walks theriot, but i appreciate it.
  4. mlb's enhanced gamecast told me that pudge loves to face four-seam fastballs, and hates to face four-seam fastballs.
  5. doesn't look like much of a transition from towles/ausmus to pudge, at least as far as offensive production.
  6. i think it's safe to say that the bradley signing is a bust.
  7. yeah i'd say i'm most worried about fukudome, he looks just as bad as last year and that contract could be a real albatross if he can't produce at all. there's also harden, but that's pretty much a concern that will never go away.
  8. if you're into trannies just keep that to yourself.
  9. i gotta say, when i was reading the BP 2009 section about the cardinals, i got really tired of seeing the phrases "unexpected," "surprising," and "career year."
  10. Multiple times per season around the big leagues. So like 3-5 out of 2430 games in a season... doesn't sound like ALL the time. He didn't even attempt to run... he jogged. I'm not asking him to sprint out everything... but come on. Oh nevermind, he hit a HR earlier so he can be lazy the rest of the game... carry on. jesus christ let it go now that it's baseball season the ignore feature is an essential item.
  11. i'm starting to develop a LLF-like crush on hoffpauir.
  12. What happens tomorrow when Marmol comes in for the 8th and faces the 7-8-9 guys, and Gregg the 1-3 guys? The thing is, everyone has been saying that its great Marmol can be a setup guy to put out fires when he's most needed, but to be honest, 95% of the time, Marmol is going to strictly pitch the 8th and Gregg the 9th. not necessarily. lou was smart enough to bring him in when the 7th inning guy got into a jam. 95% of the time gregg will be coming in with the bases empty. marmol adds a lot of value because of the ability to pitch out of a jam or get a strikeout when he needs one. in other news, unc is already kicking the crap out of moo.
  13. that's pretty sad, they've blown 3 leads of 22 runs or more?
  14. screw you matsui, i hope your anus bleeds again
  15. Problem is, we dont have a lefty in the system able to replace him, and thats pathetic agreed, how is it that we have one somewhat competent lefthanded reliever for the majors? these guys grow on trees.
  16. that's because every year he neither makes nor breaks. he seems to play really badly for a stretch of the season, but also plays really well for part of the season and reminds people that he could be a really good player.
  17. absolutely. it's probably easiest to do this in MLB (as opposed to the four other major sports), especially if you're a big market franchise, because you can outbid people for young international talent and also give large bonuses to guys to buy them away from their college commitment. you do need good scouting and development, however, and the cubs seem to lack in these areas - at least compared to the red sox.
  18. Too bad there's no prize for winning the group. I guess I'll settle for bragging rights after the Heels take care of business tomorrow night. if michigan st wins (unlikely), you finish second - it'd be TrannyTiger, you, me. If the heels win then it's you then me, then someone else.
