  1. He's 36 and wanted a 3-4 year deal for big money. Well he had the 2nd best season of his career (starting wise) last season and the guy has been a lock for 32+ starts for awhile now. I think he's more likely to live up to his 4/60 deal than Dempster is to live up to his 4/52 deal even with age thrown in. Possible, but that's a massive albatross if he falls off a cliff - which isn't out of the question. given that he's a ground ball guy with a long history of good health, i'd say that he's a lot more likely to age well and stay good for most of the four year contract. i don't know if i would've paid him $60M over 4 years, but i probably would prefer his contract over dempster and if the cubs had been in a position to add a frontline pitcher, lowe would've been a guy i would've targeted.
  2. i really wish lowe was a cub. ground ball pitcher, durable... me likey.
  3. you're not very good at putting words in my mouth... you probably should let me do the talking for myself.
  4. thomas must be really scary then, because avery turtled like a little girl when the goalie came after him. Jumped him from behind. right i'm sure avery had no idea that a goalie who he'd just hit in the head with his stick would come after him.

  6. no i wish injury on him because he's a terrible person. i've seen all of them play; i haven't seen any of them consistently stoop to the level that avery stoops to.
  7. getting ugly already
  8. oh right, because it wasn't proven it didn't happen? what's avery going to say, "yeah you got me, i called him a monkey." have fun playing in russia because your nhl career is over. given avery's track record of doing or saying anything to get under somebody's skin, i'll believe the black guy who's never accused another player of usinng a racial slur over a lowlife like avery. by skating through the crease or giving them a jab behind the leg. they don't knock goalies behind the head as they're skating down the ice, jab the goalie beneath the mask or jump around like an idiot in front of the net. the guy is an unprofessional clown who conducts himself in a manner unlike any other player in the league; one of these days i'd like to see him get his face broken by a great enforcer (which isn't likely because he'd just run away or turtle) and spend the rest of his potential playing years eating through a straw.
  9. nsbb bracket possibilities: Nova wins: TrannyTiger 1st, Tarheels Cutting Down the Nets 2nd, me/louky 3rd UNC wins, loses to MSU in the finals: TrannyTiger 1st, Tarheels 2nd, me 3rd UNC wins, beats MSU in the finals: Tarheels 1st, me 2nd, Voice of Reason 3rd
  10. i wasn't talking about the past 8 years, i was talking about this year. the pissing match about whose conference is better than whose is based on this year's results; michigan st was easily the best team in the conference this year.
  11. take a look around the league. are there other guys who routinely jab goalies in the back of the head, do jumping jacks while setting screens, call black players monkeys, call french-canadian players pansies, have reporters gather around to talk about who you banged and who's banging her now? other players don't conduct themselves in this manner because they're professionals who understand that there's a line you shouldn't cross, both on and off the ice. avery is the only one who does these things because he's the only one who's a big enough [expletive]. i guess you can go ahead and like him if you want, but that's embarrassing.
  12. Im sorry but the "Big Ten honks" deserve to come out and talk some [expletive]. The Big 10 has been killed by every major sports journalist/tv commentator, and fans of all other major conference. Everybody all year wanted to kiss the Big Easts ass, and yet the Big Ten Champ manhandled the Big East Champ in Louisville, and took it too UConn. Plain and Simple. BIG EAST KILLERS! :D well people are dumb about the big 10 and don't realize that the teams DO have offensive ability, but a lot of them just play a slow style. i find it boring but that doesn't mean that big ten teams can't play with teams who do score. but let's be honest, this is one big 10 team that is playing really well and is head and shoulders above the rest of the league. this isn't really vindication for the big 10 - no other team in the conference had a decent chance to get past the sweet 16. overall i think it's a lot more impressive to have 4 teams make the elite 8 and 2 in the final 4 than it is to have 1 team make the finals.
  13. thanks for the new pair of shoes, msu also, more importantly, voice of reason will not win the nsbb tourney picks, and this is a very good thing.

  15. msu if you blow this i will burn down east lansing myself.
  16. let's be honest, is anyone surprised that cyno likes avery?
  17. lol @ uconn turning around and bitching to the refs about push offs.
  18. i generally don't root for players to die on the ice, but in the case of avery i'll make an exception. unfortunately it was a close game and in gary buttman's nhl, lucic or thornton can't give avery the beatdown that he so richly deserves, because they'll pick up the instigator and get tossed from the game.
  19. ugh this chevy guy is a complete tool
  20. i win 2 pools if msu wins. in one of them i get 2nd if msu loses but unc wins the championship, but i'd rather that msu wins now so that i'm not torn between rooting for nova and rooting for money.
  21. i think he should come out of halftime with nunchucks or brass knuckles just to see what he has to do to get a foul.
  22. this officiating is horrendous
  23. yeah this game so far is a nice example of how izzo is a great coach, they never ran this much in the big ten, but they know that uconn's defense is so tough in the halfcourt set so they're running and shooting quickly.
  24. can build a house out of all these msu bricks.
