  1. hope 115 pitches don't make his arm fall off.
  2. why couldn't you double switch blanco in the 9-hole and marshall here?
  3. They've been pretty similar this year. Bako: .214/.290/.250/.540 Hill: .204/.283/.296/.580 http://www.zmescience.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/black_hole_milkyway.jpg
  4. that might be because k hill IS really bad.
  5. it's impressive to foul off that many pitches without ever looking like you could have hit any of them.
  6. lol the phillies announcer just said that soriano is as close to a rickey henderson as we've seen in baseball. riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
  7. And he proceeds to strike him out both times up so far 6IP -- 1 H -- 0 ER -- 0 BB -- 5 K 11 GO/2 FO also... he's dealing. probably done for the night with 82 pitches.
  8. you know, if we were being shut down cole hamels i could understand it. but rodrigo lopez and heavy B? come on.
  9. imagine him being coached by dave duncan? his ERA might have been negative by now.
  10. yeah that one made no sense whatsoever.
  11. well that's wrong. i mean, if they offered something like vitters, marshall, jay jax and h-j lee, i'm fairly certain the jays would accept it.
  12. he kinda fell apart at the end, but really, i'll think about how a guy who's almost 60 years old outplayed a field of the best golfers in the world for four rounds. someone that age even making it to a playoff is pretty incredible.
  13. haha awesome.
  14. i don't really blame them for asking for a lot... teams can get desperate and overpay for LH relief pitching, especially when trading for a "proven closer" - even if he's not that good. i'd take him and trade a mid-level prospect, but folks like jay jax and h-j lee should not be traded for a decent LH reliever.
  15. at this point they might as well put fox in to get some catching practice. koyie can't hit and fox can, so might as well see if he can at least be "not horrific" on D.
  16. the phanatic is great. my mom (elementary school music teacher) did a play on baseball several years ago, and someone arranged for the phanatic to show up at the end of it and carry my mom out of the auditorium. another phun phact, the guy who originally played the phanatic ate close to 8,000 calories a day during the season, because he sweats so much in the suit during the games. in day games during the summer it could get over 150 degrees inside the suit.
  17. they could've won the world series last year and he would've said "well of course the cubs won, the rays had never even had a winning season before this year, and the cubs' payroll was three times as large."
  18. isn't it funny how some people just come out of the woodwork when the cubs lose? no posts during the washington series but the cubs lose a game to the phillies and oh look, they're back. Such is the game threads, and such is the reason why I rarely visit them anymore. They're full of sensationalism and hackeyness. on the espn boards there used to be white sox and cardinal fans who would only show up to make fun of the cubs when they were losing, but they hate the cubs, so i understand it. i guess i just don't understand the mentality of people who troll the team that they root for.
  19. isn't it funny how some people just come out of the woodwork when the cubs lose? no posts during the washington series but the cubs lose a game to the phillies and oh look, they're back.
  20. 2006 and it's not even close. Yea, nothing will ever be as bad as 2006. Ever. that was bad but not frustrating. the cubs were horrible and nobody cared about them by mid to late may. now 2004, THAT was frustrating.
  21. there have been a hilarious number of obvious strikes called balls already... and then there's the hoffpauir at bat where two pitches a foot outside are called balls. WTF?
