  1. i'm with TT and mojo here; next year they have a big salary crunch and while i don't agree that sanchez has an average glove (i think he's a little above average), i don't think that it's a good idea to bring in another big salary who probably isn't much more than a marginal upgrade over a fontenot/miles (if he stops being cardinal mole) platoon.
  2. I prefer Verlander. I know alot of guys on this site would take the "easy way out" and chose a soft tosser, but come on "man up" and chose a tougher assignment. I'd go with Verlander. if i have a chance to win a million dollars i'm making it as easy on myself as possible. you can man up and embarrass yourself on three pitches while i win my million bucks.
  3. derosa just broke the scoreless tie with a home run in the 5th. #-o i was hoping he'd be our mole, but it seems he doesn't want to pull an aaron miles.
  4. i have to agree with the guy who said wakefield. i'm pretty sure there's zero chance i could hit something traveling 85 mph or more, or something that is breaking (3 curveballs/3 sliders and i'm done), so i'd go with the knuckleball since it's slow and there's a chance that it could just be floating up there like a meatball.
  5. I've heard that too, but it's just message board drama. Chris Duncan is the most hated player in STL with TLR a close 2nd. I would highly doubt that there is any truth to it. i seriously doubt that two guys who have been in baseball that long would be that unprofessional.
  6. followed by half of the morons yelling "balk" boooooooooooooooo
  7. Gameday had pitches 1,2, and 4 in the strike zone. 1 might have been, 2 was not close, 4 was close if the ump is giving the high strike but the ump has not been doing that and guzman missed the target on 3-0 pretty badly, which is basically a guaranteed ball.
  8. nice, walk victorino on four pitches to bring up chase utley as the tying run. terrific work.
  9. Don't be silly. It's gonna be Tug McGraw that comes back for Philly's stretch run. nah he's out with dead arm.
  10. well he was great at it in 2006-07 which apparently has been erased from everyone's memory.
  11. here's the scott eyre i know and hate, way too many pitches out of the strike zone.
  12. I honestly had no idea the Astros were tied with us. i kind of assume that everyone is tied and then the pirates are in last.
  13. .792 career OPS as a left handed batter is terrible? It's not exactly all world, but is it terrible? Especially considering the last four years before signing as a Cub he had OPS of .940, .937, .793, and .856 as a lefty? Really? And a career OPS of .820 is mediocre? Really? Even whille hitting in non-band box type stadiums at home like in 2007 when he OPSed 1.000 as a Padre? don't bother, we've tried this before with dexter.
  14. hey maybe we shouldn't have left zambrano out there so long.
  15. http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8595/johnnyleon3oe6.jpg and LEON'S getting LARRRRRRRRRGER.
  16. The thinking would be to look for a decent hitting SS and then move Theriot to second. It would allow us to widen what we're looking for and not be forced to only look at second basemen. Precisely, I was responding to the objection over Scutaro's defense. I'll take Theriot at second with Marco's production at SS of .284/.382/.414/.795 and a slightly above average OPS+ of 111 this year over whatever production the second base platoon has produced this year. well yeah but this is a career year; most of the time he's a slightly below average offensive player - decent OBP skills but not much power. he's basically ryan theriot but 4 years older. i guess one could do worse, but i don't know how many theriot/fontenot/scutaro/miles types we need.
  17. yeah soriano blew defensively at 2b, and that was when he was young and before the injury problems. he'd be awful there right now, probably a -25 or something.
  18. yeah most of the scouting reports i've seen suggest that cashner is low to mid 90s as a starter and high 90s as a reliever. plus doesn't the tennessee gun run notoriously high?
  19. If the Jays unload Halladay I've got to think that Marco Scuttaro becomes an option if people think theriot is lousy defensively at SS, wait til they get a load of scutaro there. Yeah but his offense might make the teams' good enough that we can overlook it again. his career line is .264/.334/.383/.716... that kinda sucks.
  20. If the Jays unload Halladay I've got to think that Marco Scuttaro becomes an option if people think theriot is lousy defensively at SS, wait til they get a load of scutaro there.
  21. agreed, and we know theriot can hit some. unfortunately, it's awfully tough to find a shortshop who can hit and field well on the trade market.
  22. well thankfully theriot was bailed out by howard's sweep tag... maybe we can get some runs here.
