  1. I know we have no one to replace him with at SS right now, but would he make a better 2B? Andres Blanco? can't hit for beans.
  2. ok charlie go sit on your rocking chair with your banjo. like it matters, it's paul bako.
  3. Ryan Theriot has horrible range. And an awesome arm i'm trying to figure out how a shortstop with no range and a rag arm keeps being evaluated positively by the advanced defensive metrics.
  4. Ryan Theriot has horrible range. I disagree he gets to most balls that he should. That is good range. Not Great or Excellent, but good. that was not a problem of range, it was a problem of throwing the ball into the ground.
  5. couldn't baker just have caught the ball if he didn't break backwards?
  6. i can't imagine the cards would trade for lugo and take on his salary.
  7. at this point i am saying that i feel quite confident this year will end the same way that the previous 100 have ended for the cubs.
  8. you are getting sleeeeeeeeepy... watching the cubs offense.
  9. The DSL is so hard to evaluate in terms of who has talent and who doesn't, especially when based on stats. You'd think that posting a .324/.405/.459 line as a 19 year old would get someone like Albert Hernandez on the map, but he's back in the DSL this season. OF Jesus Morelli, who put up very good numbers last season, hasn't done much with the AZL Cubs. Starlin Castro and Junior Lake put up decent, but not particularly noteworthy numbers in the DSL. It's disappointing to see those three not do well, but, at the same time, it's hard to get worked up over it when you're talking about different strike zones and the like that can be found in the DSL. perhaps the DSL cubs 2 play on a field with a texture similar to the surface of the moon; that could explain their error total. by the way, if you think the cubs' offense is bad, check out these stats from the NY-Penn league. the highest team BA in the league is .258; the highest team SLG is .388 and the highest team OPS is a stellar .703. by the way, my home town team - the state college spikes - have a team line of .211/.284/.301/.585. simply spectacular.
  10. the DSL cubs had the rare line of 8 runs on 4 hits and 6 errors today. they drew 15 walks in a 9 inning game. still, their defense is HORRENDOUS. 145 errors in 45 games or 3.22 per game. they've allowed 351 runs, which is by far the worst in the league (and there are a hell of a lot of teams in that league), and 117 unearned runs. their pitching is also horrible, with a WHIP of 1.66 and 67 hit batsmen. like i said they're the bad news bears of the DSL.
  11. he looks pretty hittable, but he's been really tough on RHP and has a great GO/FO ratio. it'd be nice to see what he can do against big league hitters.
  12. Right on cue. Show some balls, Arnold. not around all game, shows up when we lose. how is this not a troll?
  13. that's okay we get to face jamie moyer tomorrow, i'm sure we can hit him.
  14. it doesn't even feel like there's any hope of scoring. when you're getting blown away by joe blanton, rodrigo lopez and chan ho park, your offense blows.
  15. it amazes me how often soriano watches a strike for the first pitch and then proceeds to get himself out on two more pitches out of the zone.
