  1. i hate how they roll pat summerall out of bed to announce a good bowl game.
  2. http://www.kcbd.com/global/video/flash/popupplayer.asp?ClipID1=4421239&h1=EXCLUSIVE%20look%20at%20the%20rooms%20in%20question&vt1=v&at1=News&d1=333700&LaunchPageAdTag=Sport&activePane=info&rnd=36346615 http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/01/sports/ncaafootball/01leach.html?ref=sports there's about a zero percent chance that texas tech won't have to pay the full amount of leach's contract. and he should be able to find a nice coaching job pretty quickly, if not in 2010, then 2011 at the latest.
  3. 5 goals? the devils must not have been holding as well as they usually do.
  4. :-)) yeah isiah thomas, the guy who ran a basketball league that had existed for over 50 years and ran it into the ground within a year or two, turned a very good pacers team into a squad that got eliminated from the playoffs in the first round every year, then went to coach the knicks through some of the worst years in franchise history while dealing away all their draft picks and causing his employers to pay out one of the largest sexual harassment penalties in history. sounds like a guy i'd want to be around.
  5. this jim zorn situation has been a fiasco. they were basically trying to force him into quitting by midseason and he didn't do it, so there's been a lame-duck coach for half a year. dan snyder is a joke.
  6. holy cross is [expletive] 2-11... hey louisville give us our coach back.
  7. so far, the bowl results, with the point spreads in parentheses: wyoming beat fresno state by 7 (fresno -11) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 18 rutgers beat ucf by 21 (rutgers -3) - favorite wins, covers by 18 middle tenn beat so. miss by 10 (usm -4) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 14 byu beat oregon st by 24 (osu -3) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 27 utah beat cal by 10 (cal -3) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 13 smu beat nevada by 35 (nevada -14.5) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 49.5 marshall beat ohio by 4 (ohio -3) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 7 pitt beat unc by 2 (pitt -3) - favorite wins, underdog beats spread by 1 usc beat bc by 11 (usc -9) - favorite wins, covers by 2 clemson beat kentucky by 8 (clemson -7) - favorite wins, covers by 1 georgia beat aTm by 24 (georgia -7) - favorite wins, covers by 17 ucla beat temple by 9 (ucla -7) - favorite wins, covers by 2 wisconsin beat miami by 6 (miami -3) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 9 idaho beat bowling green by 1 (bgsu -1) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 2 nebraska beat arizona by 33 (arizona -2) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 35 air force beat houston by 27 (houston -4.5) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 31.5 oklahoma beat stanford by 4 (ou -8) - favorite wins, underdog beats spread by 4 navy beat missouri by 22 (mizzou -7) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 39 iowa st beat minnesota by 1 (minnesota -3) - underdog wins outright, beats spread by 4 so overall: 5 favorites have won and covered the spread by a combined 40 points 2 favorites have won but not covered the spread; underdogs have beaten the spread by 5 points in these games. 12 underdogs have won outright, and beat the spread by a combined 249 points this is insane... how is anyone supposed to pick this [expletive]? favorites are 7-12 outright and underdogs have beaten the spread by a combined 214 points!
  8. that's too bad... that phone message he left one of his bimbos was already out. i think there could have been plenty of promotional activities centered around his infidelity... like AT&T is a great company to use if you're cheating on your wife and don't want her to know.
  9. kennedy's stuff is marginal but he's polished and throws strikes; scherzer has great stuff but is a little more raw and doesn't locate as well. looking at minor league numbers isn't going to tell you any of that.
  10. they suspended him from coaching the bowl game; he went to court to be allowed to coach the bowl game.
  11. yeah i thought the pac 10 might have been the best conference top to bottom; so far they have one win against friggin temple.
  12. the flyers are thoroughly outplaying the rangers tonight... maybe the funk is over finally?
  13. wow adam james is just getting killed by those people. maybe he's just an [expletive].
  14. carter was likely to make team canada after last year, but he hasn't been that great this year. i know mike green has some issues with defensive reliability, but i figured he would make it. also jay bouwmeester, who by all accounts has been very good this season and last. not sure who i would've left off on defense though; canada is just loaded there. i also probably would have put martin st louis, carter or shane doan on ahead of patrice bergeron.
  15. the big ten may win a lot of bowls this year if it keeps raining in florida and the fields are in terrible condition.
  16. pro bowl rosters jason peters didn't deserve to make it for the eagles, but sheldon brown and brent celek could have been on there.
  17. yep they realized that they were temple.
  18. this eagles-cowboys game is kind of a big deal
  19. i remember saying in the offseason when people were projecting new jersey as a middle-of-the-pack team in the east, that they'd probably bore everyone to tears and get at least 110 points. sure enough, they're incredibly boring and winning lots of close games. what a [expletive] shitty team.
  20. i think the nfl is pretty much wide open No question, but all six teams in the NFC will have a shot at making it to the Super Bowl. I think three teams (at most) in the AFC have a shot at going that far. i don't know. the colts choke in the playoffs almost every year, and norv turner and the chargers aren't much different. depending on which teams win the wc, i think the afc is wide open too. the jets have the inside track and have absolutely zero chance. the bengals have next to zero chance (seriously has any "good" team been less inspiring the last 6 weeks? maybe minnesota i guess?) baltimore is next up in the afc; i suppose they could do something, although their defense isn't nearly what it used to be or what people think it is (because many of the names are the same).
  21. Thats the wrong mindset, Cowboys are pulling the 2 seed. it's much more likely that the eagles would pull the 2 seed.
  22. right, except brett favre is old for his profession and retires every offseason, only to wait for another team to cater to his every desire and allow him to come back after skipping all of the hard work during the preseason, whereas urban meyer suffered a serious of significant health incidents that made him think he needed to retire - very early for his profession - but then reconsidered and a day later decided to take a leave of absence in hopes that he could improve his health in that way. in other words it's pretty much exactly the same thing except in just about every way possible.
