  1. those are both amusing, but not as amusing as the faces of everybody on the eagles' sideline as they realize all they needed to do is win one of the past 2 games to advance to the divisional round and they are getting outscored by a combined 58-14 yes all they had to do was to win 1 game, on the road, against a team that is more talented, better than any team they've beaten all year, and a horrible matchup for them. small potatoes.
  2. not sure whose face amuses me more, wade phillips' perpetually confused face or jerry jones' creepy no-wrinkles face that looks like the skin is stretched so tight it's about to fly off like a rubber band.
  3. at this point i just hope someone other than the cowboys, their a-hole wide receivers and jerry jones' creepy plastic face wins the nfc.
  4. it's a terrible matchup for the eagles, jason peters is as mobile as a filing cabinet, which is bad against ware, sean mcdermott is a worse defensive coordinator than dead jim johnson, and the eagles fattened up against bad team. the only good teams the eagles played this year they lost to; they lost at home to dallas and got blown out at home by the saints and on the road versus the cowboys. they're an average team who won lots of games against average and bad teams but don't have the talent or the coaching to beat good teams. pretty easy call.
  5. saw this ass-whipping coming a mile away. shame on you who picked the eagles.
  6. I don't think players should be punished for the prevailing stupidity of the media when they played. Worrying about how a player was viewed while he played is what leads to stuff like Catfish Hunter and Jim Rice getting elected. But it is the Hall of Fame. Really the title basically says it is based more on perception then statistical facts http://www.firejoemorgan.com/2006/01/12-minutes-of-hell-with-colin-cowherd.html
  7. sopel is probably going to have to go away soon. you can't afford to take a $2.3M cap hit on third pairing d-man unless you're in very good shape versus the cap. the blackhawks aren't so they're going to have to unload him. sending him to the minors would also be an option (wouldn't count against the cap) but there's no reason that a team sopel couldn't provide good value to another team at that price.
  8. they should've finished #3 at worst, pollsters got it wrong.
  9. USC fans are too funny. isn't it still light out at 5 pm?
  10. dude i've been to alabama. not as big a difference from kentucky as you want to believe.
  11. this is what happens when we let teams like alabama win the "championship" next week it'll be coming to a golden corral and a waffle house near you
  12. guess he doesn't like limos
  13. Hey..................they grouped those lunatics with us good Alabama fans. That generalization just made you look and sound like an ass. Not to mention wrong. There may be those whose "cattle has left the ranch" might fit into that catergory, but most Bama fans was NOT under what just mention Logan. So again, don't make those stupid generalizations. if you are one of the "good" alabama fans then i'd hate to see the lunatics.
  14. Won't they have to at least pretend to adhere to the Rooney Rule? they could probably just pay the fine instead.
  15. Doesn't Boise return nearly everybody? If so, they ought to be on that list somewhere. boise st also ought to be ranked higher than #4 in both polls to end the year, but as usual the non-bcs conferences get ignored by everyone. don't know where else to put this, but USF fired jim leavitt as coach for abusing a player. seems like another situation like the one with mike leach, the university just got tired of the guy and found a reason to can him.
  16. is there any evidence that hendry or anyone else within the cub organization is heavily into advanced metrics? the reason i ask is that a publication i read - forget if it was BA prospect handbook or BP - they said that hendry tends to judge players too heavily on the simple stats like batting average and ERA, and is often suckered in by players with mediocre metrics who had a good year because of good luck, or gives up on players too quickly when bad luck was to blame for a down year or two. in fact, i believe it was written about randy wells, who they said the cubs gave up on too easily (when he went to the blue jays in the rule 5 draft) because his peripherals were solid but he had poor luck on balls in play for a year or two. if there aren't people within the cub org who give a [expletive] about advanced metrics, then i hope the ricketts care about it and install some better people who understand the direction the game is headed.
  17. plus what's the point??? congratulations you just won the championship of your league! many of your pitchers are tired and it has been a long grind of a season! let's go play a series against a japanese team where the winner receives nothing!
  18. i'm trying to figure out how pujols keeps grading out as one of the best first basemen in baseball since apparently his footwork sucks, doesn't make scoops well and in general doesn't know how to play the position properly.
  19. nice win by the flyers at pittsburgh last night. leighton hasn't been too bad and emery is getting back soon, and it looks like the team is starting to buy into laviolette's system of not playing like idiots, which was in direct contrast to stevens. next several games are easy: vs tampa, vs dallas, @toronto, @washington, vs columbus, vs ny rangers, vs carolina, vs pittsburgh, vs atlanta, vs ny islanders. only two good teams (wash, pitt) and a lot of pretty bad ones, plus a lot of home games.
  20. yeah the hawks could certainly do some things in the draft if they get some good interest in some of the talented young guys they deem expendable. they won't get picks in the top half of the first round for barker or versteeg. but someone like seabrook? sure. they're in a good position because they have at least two franchise forwards (toews, kane) and two outstanding d-men (keith, seabrook) and don't need to get a malkin or ovechkin in the draft. ideally they could find a franchise goaltender soon, but mostly they just need to draft for scoring and checking depth up front and depth on the blueline.
  21. he may end up good but he certainly was not good last night. i'm not saying i blame him - it's a lot to expect a young guy who basically hasn't played college football to be thrown into four quarters against one of the best teams in the country, on the biggest stage in the sport, and expect him to succeed. but i wouldn't blame the play calling or receivers; for the most part he just looked like he struggled with his accuracy and reading of the defense.
  22. the hawks are nowhere close to the top 5 as far as non-nhl talent under their control.
  23. i don't think it's accurate to say that they will fall to where tampa is now, but they'll have to be very smart about their personnel decisions in the next two years to remain a top team. they could easily drop back to middle of the pack.
  24. 2004 auburn should've quit the sec and joined a real conference like the big xii or pac 10 if they wanted to play for a championship.
  25. Uh.................................NOPE. Flames, I am going to use the "13th title" for the time being, and then retired it during the summer. ok, well we will continue to make fun of you then. that plus your argument about boise (join a better conference, play a better schedule) is horrible.
