  1. b. jackson has a single and bases-clearing triple for daytona so far. dolis has pitched 4 innings and allowed only a solo homer and a walk. he's pretty interesting because his GO/FO ratio was 1.64 last season; in his first 2 games this year his ratio was 2.60 and today he's gotten 9 GO versus only 2 FO.
  2. i'm more inclined to put cashner in the likely category because i think he'll be a very good reliever if the starting thing doesn't work out.
  3. i was surprised when chirinos made the cubs' top 30 prospects on BA, but i guess he's hit pretty well the last two years and is playing a defense-first position. still, he's almost 26 so i'm guessing he'll need to be in iowa for some of this year. maybe there is backup potential with him, which is still better than i would've thought a year or two ago.
  4. people who think wandy rodriguez sucks stopped paying attention about 3 years ago.
  5. i was going to say that jose jimenez threw a no-hitter for the rockies, but apparently he was on the cardinals (surprise surprise) at the time.
  6. yay we finally got [expletive] towles out
  7. dammit what's wrong with nagel now
  8. looks like meph was right about this towles guy after all!!!
  9. ok well as long as we all agree that there was no reason for marmol to even warm up, let alone pitch in the game.
  10. wait are you saying that it's bad for a guy's arm to warm him up but then not pitch him in a ballgame.
  11. marmol has struck out 11 of the 19 batters he's faced this season. that's pretty good.
  12. it would be great if the cubs have to use marmol again tomorrow, then they go to the 9th inning on sunday up a run but lou decides not to use marmol because it would be three straight days and 4 times in 5 days.
  13. lou's bullpen management is reason #1 that i'm looking forward to the day he doesn't manage the cubs any more.
  14. sometimes i feel like lou makes up his mind and then just won't change it. like when the cubs took the lead in the 7th, he said to himself "great, get through the 8th and then it's marmol time"... the fact that the cubs tacked on several more runs doesn't matter to him.
  15. yeah no way that the other pitchers could close out a 5 run game against the bottom half of a terrible lineup with the wind blowing in.
  16. there's a good player left who will be very good in a 3-4, but we don't play that, so let's go with nate allen, FS from usf
  17. Gotta give Theriot some credit. Sure it would have gone foul but it was a very good bunt and although he shouldn't have gotten a hit out of it, it would have brought in the go-ahead run. If it would've gone foul is it really a good bunt? and a run would have scored on a foul ball?

  19. way to get yourself out hacking at a pitcher's pitch on his first pitch of the game.
  20. the astros really should have put a RHP in the game; i'd sure as hell rather have a RHP against tracy than a LHP against nady.
  21. on gameday it has pitches 3 and 4 (strikes) farther outside than pitch 5 (ball)
