  1. that is a very poor assumption.
  2. especially when he very well may not be slugging much by that age. pat gillick was a really good GM; i'm not sure that ruben amaro jr. is very good. this doesn't seem like something gillick would have done.
  3. i didn't think quick played all that well last night either. the goalies were definitely the reason that vancouver won last night; i thought the kings outplayed vancouver overall in that game. no idea why you guys claimed him or why he dressed in the playoffs. granted he has the physical tools to be a good d-man, but he just makes so many dumb plays - drop passes in the neutral zone to the other team, being 30 feet away from where he should be in his own zone, pinching on a puck he has no shot at when there's a clear 2-on-1 behind him, etc.

  5. Let's hope he's the real deal. Get him some playing time as the 4th OF and if he's for real trade Fukudome next offseason. Slow down. If his OF defense and his walks doesn't improve over the long run then he's going to have to keep hitting out of his mind to justify making him a starting RF. our current starting RF would have a hard time justifying himself as a starting RF So why compound such brilliant decision making? Especially when it's someone who is likely to be a light hitting corner OF AND nowhere near as good defensively. i'd do it if colvin could produce nearly as much WAR as fukudome at a fraction of the price. that is assuming, of course, that you could get another team to take all or most of fukudome's contract for next year.
  6. i believe that was the reason that manny acta was fired

  8. they look compatible
  9. Does anybody that actually works for a living between the ages of 25 and 50 have a Facebook" page?
  10. this isn't college football; we don't need rivalry trophies.
  11. no kidding... lou in a uniform could give kids nightmares.
  12. sorry you have to wait another 2 days to order that jimmy clausen jersey.
  13. does milwaukee count as a road game?
  14. methinks the pirates have seen .500 for the last time in 2010
  15. i'm really glad the giants picked jason-pierre paul. i bet he's terrible.
  16. can't we make thread titles like "Cubs offense" or "Cubs offense coming out of slumber?" what kind of title is "Well.............."
  17. i assume that everyone on the cardinals uses steroids unless proven otherwise.
  18. still on pace to lead the cardinals' infield with zero errors this year.
  19. i would say that his future is probably a 4th OF, but that it's not a given. he did hit legitimately well last year in a pretty good pitcher's league (tennessee) and has started out strong in spring training and in april. it looks like his eye has come a little way, and my eyes tell me that his swing looks less loopy and his bat speed looks better than when he was up for a cup o' tea last year. it's possible - though not likely - that he's experienced a breakthrough and is a better played than he showed through most of his minor league career.
  20. i think this is the best part: albert pujols is on pace for 0 (zero) errors this season.
  21. tommy hanson turned 23 in august last year and had 2 years of full-season ball under his belt, including spending most of the previous year at AA. starlin castro just turned 20 a month ago and has played only 1 year of full-season ball, most of which was spent in A ball. hanson starting the year in AAA was in large part a financial decision; starting castro in AA has a lot more to do with not rushing the player and hurting his development.
  22. the eagles signed an undrafted free agent from west texas a&m. hopefully he was coached up by ryan leif.
  23. huh? Pierre. pierre wasn't a bad player early in his career and, more importantly, castro's swing really isn't like noodle arm. pierre slaps at the ball so it's impossible for him to generate any power; castro's swing isn't really like that at all.
  24. on the plus side, the game ended pretty quickly in OT so there won't be any spousal beatings and arson in western PA tonight.
