    The bears are so charmed with injuries. They're playing lots of important players in a meaningless game and still nobody gets hurt. Only sulley's teams are immune to the injury bug.

    everyone said that like 8 years ago, that spanier wanted paterno gone and paterno didn't want to leave. this was when PSU sucked (early 2000s) and there was some discontent among the alumni base about the old man. i don't know if those rumors were true, but if they were, it's pretty obvious who came out on top. i think spanier figures that joe will call his own shots and unless he's completely senile, he's not going to be forced to retire.

    What is, outside of peripherals I guess? probably just the peripherals. because relievers come in and out so frequently nowadays their ERA is pretty heavily dependent on what happens after they leave the game. and ERA doesn't take into account their effectiveness in not giving up runs when entering the game with runners on base. i know that ERA is not a good stat for relievers. FIP probably sucks too. not sure about xFIP. BP has a couple of stats that i like.
