  1. i love that twitter is inducing bored major league baseball players to go watch random little league games.
  2. they both whine way too much, and whine too much about each others' whining.
  3. Seems overly whiney considering in just the past couple years the farm system has given us our best player, 3/5 of our (original) rotation, 3/7 of our bullpen, a few other regulars, and still has the guy who will most likely be our starting CF next year, another guy with a very good shot of being in the rotation next year and several other guys who will probably make the majors at some point. When you put it that way, it's not nearly as bad. But it is a pretty uninspiring group based on current production and potential ceilings. well it is bad when you consider that the (chicago) cubs are a lousy team. the farm system isn't doing much good if it's producing enough talent to help field a 75 win club.
  4. lol, my new pitcher got hurt 7 pitches into his start after facing one batter. way to waste a GS, buddy!
  5. the mets have money problems, and the teams you think would spend wildly on the amateur draft often do not. the pirates and royals have been spending pretty heavily in recent years, while many teams with larger payrolls (like the mets) tend to stay closer to slot money with the vast majority of their picks.
  6. speaking of 35 point starts, when did justin masterson become not average?
  7. charles barkley - still completely awesome hell yes, chuck.
  8. not everyone speaks to the press about them. in fact pretty much nobody does that.
  9. who's the executive that said this? that person should be kicked in the throat. riley recruited two all stars to play there and then sat back and watched them win a bunch of games. what a genius.
  10. is that really our top 10? yuck.
  11. i think all you bulls fans should blame the guy who was basically shoveling dirt on the heat after last game and asking what lebron's excuse would be this time.
  12. well at least one chicago team will beat a miami team tonight.
  13. The same thing could be said about you and your posts. no kidding... complete silence until something bad happens to the cubs, and then right on cue, there's aramis fan
  14. that's a good add, i was watching him in case one of my minor leaguers suffered an injury or slumped badly. as you might imagine i'm paying more attention to my minor leaguers than i am to my big league players at this point, since i have already waved the white flag. in related news, make me trade offers people.
  15. florida recruit's favorite pre-game ritual - taking a dump
  16. note - robertson was clearly on the downside of his career and averaged "only" 19/6/8 for the bucks the year they won the championship... it's not like kareem had him as a teammate when he was posting a triple double with 30 points every game.
  17. i guess the difference is that oscar robertson was basically just as good as kareem, while pippen was clearly inferior to jordan... but that being said, pippen was a fantastic player and one of the 25 or 50 best players of all time, so he obviously counts as a superstar and an elite teammate to jordan.
  18. of course it would have been jordan's team. he was the better player and would have been the guy to take most of the shots at the end of close games.
  19. plus the draft was won by [expletive] cleveland. it's not like the nba gifted some elite talent to a big market, a la ewing in 1985. what's the motivation in giving a declining city the #1 pick in a weak draft? plus does kahn not know the odds? even as the worst team you have a 1 in 4 chance of the #1 pick. you actually have a better chance of picking outside the top 2 than you do of getting one of those picks. so stop being an [expletive] and shut up.
  20. given the attendance figures the reds have been posting, it would appear that nobody in the greater cincinnati area has any money.
  21. by the way, the reds should really consider hiring better announcers since nobody goes to their games. last week they had an attendance of less than 40,000 for three games against the astros, and they've drawn fewer than 35,000 in two games against the cubs. this is a team that's good and built to win now, where is everybody?
  22. larussa, carpenter and brennaman, it's a menage a douche. and yeah, the cards all barking at cordero for hitting pujols with an 0-2 count when putting him on brought the tying run to the plate is just embarrassing for the cards. not that larussa, duncan and co. haven't already thoroughly embarrassed themselves by whining throughout larussa's career.
  23. the data shows the cubs having the second-worst defensive efficiency in baseball, so either the pitchers have been unlucky or the cubs' defense is lousy. the cubs' LD% against is high (6th highest in baseball) but the GO/FO ratio is actually more fly ball heavy than average (fly balls are more likely to be outs than ground balls), so this suggests that the cubs' defensive performance has been a problem. fwiw, the team UZR is worse than about 2/3 of the teams in baseball, which suggests that they are poor but not a complete mess.
  24. by sidekick do you mean "guy who averaged more points, rebounds and assists per game than dwyane wade"? also i love the leap of logic here. lebron went from probably being the best player in the league last year, when his surrounding cast sucked, to not being the best player in the league this year because he has another great player on his team.
