  1. I love posts that begin "Racist or not..." you had that backwards, scott hits righties well and soriano does well against lhp. the way that works out, since most pitchers are righthanded, is soriano ends up playing like 1/4 of the time. i have a hard time seeing the cubs giving soriano 200 at bats for $18m a year.
  2. not a bad analogy, but this isn't a company down the street, it's like 2000 miles away. it's a big life change so you can understand why she/they would be stressed about it, and disappointed that the cards didn't step up with a more market-competitive offer to keep him in town. of course davearm throws around the term "greedy" because it's huge money, but if you're living in st louis and making 80 grand a year and some company in california offers you 125k, and you go for it, people aren't going to call you greedy. this may be hard to believe, but people like to be paid a fair wage given what they bring to their employer, regardless of whether that be 50 grand or 50 million. people also would rather live in california rather than st. louis i surprised they even wanted to stay in st louis. if i was a pro athlete and had a choice to make millions of dollars pretty much anywhere i wanted, i sure as hell wouldn't staying in [expletive] st louis.
  3. You'd [expletive] a plugged in toaster with a tin foil condom. :rotfl:

  5. i for one am shocked that davearm is hung up on semantics and making a pointless and inane argument based on them.
  6. i assume that you have been extremely wealthy and therefore are able to make judgments about what is and is not stressful for people who have a lot of money? because it sure sounds like you have perspective that none of us have.
  7. oh they chose to leave, well that changes everything.
  8. maybe just mention it in insiders; most of those people would be fine to fill the spot. except for kyle.
  9. hahaha. if they're lucky they'll be able to pawn him off while chipping in half the money they owe him in those last two years.
  10. good, he was so utterly worthless. he wasn't even a good fielder for God's sakes. koyie hill literally does nothing well, not even woodworking.
  11. Complaining about a multi-million dollar contract offer and to act as it was an insult, is dumb on her part. Then to make a comment about it being a stressful situation is incredibly moronic. Perspective is needed on her part. so apparently anyone who has been making multi-million dollars per year and will continue to make that kind of money is not allowed to be upset about the offer, no matter what they're offered. when a couple has lived in one place for 10 years, established a life and a business there, and have a special needs child that has support set up in that city, and they're possibly moving on to another place, believe it or not there might be some stress involved. she didn't say that she was worried about putting food on the table, but yes, it is stressful to human beings when they don't know where they'll be working or living a couple of months from now. the only thing that is incredibly moronic is you thinking that rich people shouldn't feel stress because they're financially secure.
  12. i'm pretty sure the bird doesn't appear on the back of the uniform.
  13. So seeing significant playing time is indicative of how good a player is or proof that they've been a good draft pick? That my friend, is nonsense. Chris Williams is a below average guard and has had one small stretch of decent play before getting hurt. Chris Williams was the only above average lineman the Bears had this year. Everything you've said the last two pages is nonsense. yeah my recollection was that he was at least adequate at tackle. the virus seems to not realize that there is quite a bit of value in a young player in his rookie contract playing average football. like i said, one can express disappointment at angelo's drafts without saying that everyone he's drafted in the past 5 years is worthless. and i shouldn't have to list names (thanks to sneaky for doing that though) to avoid being accused of trolling - if anyone is trolling it's the guy who's throwing out inane statements with no basis in reality.
  14. Somewhat interested. Possible 1B or a LH platoon mate for Soriano. he can also throw banana chips at soriano in the locker room.
  15. i also like how it's darwin barney/blake dewitt/jeff bianchi, because a guy who was a 2 WAR rookie is equivalent to a guy who is pretty much a 0 WAR player, and they're both equivalent to a 25 year old middle infielder who hasn't played above AA and was just acquired on waivers.
  16. hell i'd sign him as a pitcher. he wasn't bad last year and really, the bar for him being a passable starter is quite a bit lower than it is for a normal pitcher who can't hit for beans. don't like him much as a reliever though - he just wouldn't get enough PH opportunities to give his offensive ability much value.
  17. yeah even if you think chris williams has been a disappointment based on where he was drafted, he's seen significant playing time and been decent if not above average. it's quite obvious that the statement about no draftees in the last five years being worth a damn is complete nonsense.
  18. your posts deserve to be trolled, they're terrible. saying that the bears haven't drafted a player worth a damn in over 5 years is a lot dumber than someone calling you out on your nonsense.
  19. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=15654 pretty good summary of where the story's at, although there's a lot of information out there and some of it is false.
  20. no, a lot of people are saying it isn't PEDs. some sportswriter in milwaukee, ken rosenthal, etc. similar to how manny ramirez tested positive for a banned substance (a female fertility drug that's used by roiders to restart testosterone production at the end of a cycle).
  21. sorry to hear that rob. i vote for cubbiebum to replace.
  22. In terms of young talent, we're already ranked third in the NFC North. What about Angelo gives you confidence that he'll be able to turn this team into championship contenders? He hasn't drafted anybody worth a damn since 2006. dude come on. i'm not even a bears fan and i know he drafted matt forte since 2006. if the bears had gone 5 years without drafting a decent player they'd be by far the worst team in the nfl. you can say that his drafts have been disappointing without making hyperbolic and moronic statements.
  23. because football is over in chicago for a long long time.
  24. fml that has be one of the biggest fantasy football kicks in the balls i've ever experienced. and of course it's at the hands of two teams i hate.
